I am sorry to hear you have taken Depo Provera. The side effects of Depo are known to be VERY long lasting. I too was on Depo Provera, but for 5 years. I did tons of research on Depo about it's side effects and it was all a bit frightening. I am glad that you stopped. I would not recommend that you EVER take it again. Try something else. Anyway, Depo Provera is supposed to take up to 1 year to leave your system. However, there are many other women on the Internet that have been trying for several years after Depo with no success. A lot of them are claiming it took 2 to 3 years to get pg. I know that I did not have a regular period after Depo for 3 to 4 years after. However, since you didn't take it for long, hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones and get what you want sooner. Do not be suprised though if nothing happens for another 9 months. It says right on the label that it does not leave your system for 1 year.

Also, in case you are not aware, you can have your menstrual cycle (bleed) and not be ovulating (able to get pregnant). Depo causes a lack of progesterone in your body which prevents ovulation. A lot of women do not know that they can be on their period, but not actually ovulating. If you think this might be the case, you can be tested for ovulation. If your progesterone is low, then there are natural progesterone creams that you can try to help start ovulation again, but that's about the only option. Only use the progesterone cream if you have had your progesterone levels checked!

I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

It is highly unlikely that you will get pregnant any time soon. Depo takes AT LEAST one year to completely clear your system. It says that right on the packaging and your doctor should have also told you that. The first year of being off of Depo will be very unpredicatable. Every woman has different results. You might have irregular periods or even no period at all for a year after and some times longer.

There is nothing you can do about it except wait. You just have to let the drug work it's way out of your system. It is possible that you might get pregnant any time, but unlikely. You can verify if you are ovulating by taking a test at the gynecologist. Depo causes a hormone imbalance which stops ovulation. So you have to wait for your hormones to return to normal.

I took only 2 depo shots after I had my first baby in 1999 and it took me 3 1/2 years to get pregnant with my second child.I had an early miscarriage but I have had 2 beautiful daughters since. You probably will get pregnant......eventually if you keep trying but I don't see it happening anytime soon.Depo is bad!And get this...My sister in law just started taking it and the doctor has her convinced that she can get pregnant after only 3 months of quitting depo! Now my sister in law won't listen to me about it but it really is a known fact that it takes time getting pregnant after quitting depo.I wish you the best of luck.

I was on the depo shot for nearly 2 1/2 years and had my last shot in May. Now it's January and I've had one (wimpy & short) period in October. My husband and I would love to conceive our first baby, but my ovaries must still be sleeping. I've spent about $100 on pregnancy tests, but they're all negative. I guess I just need to relax and wait patiently, but I'm kinda mad at the way the depo shot lingers in my body for so long. I don't think I'll ever use it again.
