A little background first, i had a miscarriage sept 28th 2009, waited until dec to start trying again. Started my period on jan 18th, only bled for 4 days, started feb 14th, same..only bled for 4 days but 2 days after i stopped bleeding i had very light spotting for 2 days. Now it's march 15th. I should have started my period on the 12th. I haven't gotten it yet and I have a thick white discharge. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it said negative...I have a pretty laid back life and not stressed from anything. what could be going on?
Chances are what you're experiencing is a later than normal ovulation. The thick white discharge is an indicator of fertile cervical fluid = ovulation.
March 13th (Sunday) would've been 28 days from your last start date (Feb 14), but thinking your period should have come on that day is an assumption that all your cycles are the same length. Most people do not have the same length cycle every month. For example, most months my cycles are 30 days, but last month I didn't ovulate until day 27 so I ended up having a 40 day cycle. 12-16 days from the time you ovulate is when you SHOULD start your period. The only true way to know when you should expect your period is by charting and knowing exactly when you ovulate.
Late ovulation can be caused by lots of things aside from just stress. Travel of any kind is well known to cause it (for whatever reason!), weight gain, weight loss, change in exercise habits, change in diet, sickness, etc.
I highly recommend charting your cycles. It's quite an eye opener.![]()
