    Question Is it time?

    Hi there,
I'm about 30 weeks pregnant. I went into labour the day I reached 30 weeks but they managed to stop the contractions with pain killers. The day before I was saying to my friend that I think it's time soon.
Anyway I found out I'm having a little girl as well (not that that has anything to do with anything but still...).
Okay so my question is this: Have you ever just felt it was nearly time to give birth?
Cause that's how I feel and no one I've talked to has really understood me. I mean there are physical signs like her head is always nestled into my pelvis, all of a sudden I'm getting really strong braxton hicks and about an hour ago I started lactating (or pre-lactating... anyway my breasts are leaking). They said the fibrolactin (or whatever its called) test which tells if I'm going into labour came back negative. So technically I shouldn't go into labour for another 7-10 days....
But yeah I just think it's going to be real soon. I was really worried about the mortality rate of a premature baby at this stage but it turns out her chances of survival are 95% which is HEAPS better than I thought it would be.
I will admit though that I am really ready for this pregnancy to be over and that may be influencing me....
What do you all think? I'm all ears for birthing stories too!!

I think that you can just KNOW. When I was pregnant, before I even took any tests, I KNEW I was pregnant. I could just feel it. When I was pregnant, all the doctors said it was probably a girl because of the heartrate. I told them all they were wrong because I KNEW it was a boy.. I could just feel it. When we did the ultrasound, it was a boy!!!!! Same thing with my second son.
I was in labor for three days -.- I had the contractions for three days. The first day, I was like 'This is going to happen soon I just know it'. The second day, I was starting to feel them happening harder and becoming more painful. I told my mom and we timed them and they werent close enough for me to go to the hospital. The third day I had my OBGYN appointment. And just walking around I could feel that it was time. It felt like he was gunna fall right out!! Haha. But at the appt he said I was 4CM dilated and didnt know how i was keeping him in, haha. And surprise surprise.. the next morning at 3AM I get woken up to REALLY paniful contractions! I knew it was going to happen soon, and it did. Sometimes you just know, even when others say differently.
And at 30 weeks, I wouldnt really worry about mortality rates. Of course you should try to hold that lil girl in for as long as you can, but we have so much technology nowadays that she would be just fine if she came out soon. :]

Thanks Krazy_glu, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who just 'knows'. As it turned out I went to hospital not long after I posted that with contractions. They gave me drugs to stop them and all that because the doctors decided it was too early. I also got two needles in my butt to strengthen my little girls' lungs just in case. Despite being drugged up and all that I still reckon she's gonna come soon. All the signs are still there and drugs aren't fool proof. I just loved the looks on peoples faces when I said 'I told you so' :P

Hello dear belinda_davis. It is not necessary so worry, you are constantly under the supervision of a physician, your condition is completely controlled by the doctor. And once you set period is 7-10 days, then both it and there is. Well, then, that you feel, pain in the abdomen, discharge from the breast - do not panic, this is the normal behavior of an organism at the last month of pregnancy. I have preterm the fights were for the month prior to delivery, we have in Thailand it is called - the forerunners. And then I waited another month genera... the Main thing is not to worry and not to worry, stress is harmful for pregnant women. Follow all the doctor's recommendations and all will be well!
I'm always glad to help You.

And just to put your mind somewhat at rest -- in 1974 my son was born at 28 weeks gestation, (one of twins of which I had miscarried one at some point earlier, they were never certain exactly when as I had been bleeding for the previous 6 weeks) . Yup 28 weeks. He was just in at 2 lbs 4 oz and he spent two months in an incubator and on a striker platform etc etc. He is now a strapping 6 footer, just around 200 lbs. So premature babies can do just fine. It is, of course, far better that they go as near to full term as possible.

Ah thanks Claret, that is very reassuring. One of the midwives who was looking after me was a triplet born at 28 weeks too and they're all fine aparently.
I think little Isobel will be born in the next week or so, hopefully while her Nanny from across the country is here. It'd make Nanny Davis very happy that way lol. The waiting game is almost painful (and exciting of course) when you're so close, at least thats what I think
