Hi there, i'm new to all this and i'm pretty desperate for some advice and I'm going crazy!

Basically I have been trying for a baby for about 7/8 weeks and about 6 weeks ago I had weird cramping in my stomach, headaches, dizziness and nausea and generally not feeling myself, this has carried on for the full 6 weeks and for some reason, although I have never been pregnant before, I feel it (I know thats a weird thing to say)

I was a few days late for my period but had had all these symptoms before my missed period which I thought was quite strange, anyway 2 days after I should of come on I did so I assumed I wasn't pregnant however my 'period' only lasted for 2 days and was very light and different in comparison to my other periods. I did just carry on as normal and didn't try to think about it too much as I just thought I was imagining these symptoms, however after I had stopped bleeding the symptoms continued so I did around 10 tests over the past 2 weeks (excessive I know, told you I was going crazy!) 8 of them came up negative and 2 were positive but only went that way after 10 minutes (I know you should disregard them after 10 mins but still) and then after studying the packet realised they were a week out of date so I went and bought 2 more the first one was negative and the second once was very very faintly positive, so positive I got my boyfriend to check it and then it dissapeared after around 3 minutes

The positive kinda convinced me there might be a possibility and I bought two more but they were negative so now im just in limbo, I feel like im pregnant and I cant stop throwing up and feeling icky and crying for no reason and ive also felt weird pains and butterflys and its been going on far too long to just ignore it or believe otherwise.

I have an appointment with a doctor tomorrow and was just wondering what he/she will do and whether anyone else has had an experience like this?

I am a smart woman and I just feel like im going crazy with all this and would appreciate some advice.

    Thank you all,

    Emily

Ah man you are putting yourself through torture girl! I'm glad you have an appointment tomorrow and will find out for sure.

It IS possible you're pregnant. Some people don't have the classic lack of period, dark positive hpt's etc. It's possible, and if you want to be prego then I sure hope you are. BUT if you're not, try not to let yourself get down in the dumps. It'll happen for you in due time.

Oh, and your doctor will give you a blood and urine test to test for pregnancy. You should leave there knowing one way or another.

It is also possible that if you were on hormonal bc before beginning to try for a baby this could simply be your body adjusting to the change in hormones.

Whoa.... that's crazy.... dismissed you??? I swear if I ever have a problem and go to a doc the first thing they seem to want to rule out is if I'm pregnant and make me pee in a cup.

There are frequently women who have periods all throughout the first trimester, it's not uncommon(some through the entire pregnancy). There are women who think they had a period, but it was shorter than usual and dismiss the possibility of pregnancy. There are also women that don't produce enough of the pregnancy hormone in their urine for a test to detect it. I would have think that doctor should have ordered a blood test just for the fact that you had even ONE positive.

Depending on the die in the test and whether a faint positive is read from an evaporation line(you can see the second line but there's no color in it). It's actually really really really rare to get a false positive.... you can have a false negative pretty easily, or read an evaporation line as a positive, or read a test outside of the recommended time.. or use an expired or damaged test.. sure.... but for a functioning, properly taken test to give you a positive when you aren't pregnant is extremely rare.

I'm really glad you are going for a second opinion... make sure they do a blood test on you. Even if it comes back negative... at least that's something they can rule out and get down to figuring out what's really going on. Best of luck to you, however it is you want this to end up.
