    HI EVERYONE!

I saw my gynae y-day, iv been trying ttc since last year, my periods have been irregular. He thinks im not ovulating so he might have to start me on clomid. we are stil waiting for the results, depending on the results il have to start taking clomid.

Do you know anything about clomid? the side effects? and how effective is it?
I also read up on Vitex, its a herb, assists in ovulation and hormone regulation. i havent started taking it coz im skeptical, Do you know if its effective or if i can take it together with clomid?

Im feeling so excited and anxious at the same time.
    Your input
    would be appreciated

Hello <3 I don't know how it works, but one of my good friends has been using it for some time now - her and her husband and they just got pregnant; so happy baby making to you and blessings

I wouldn't recommend taking Vitex yet if you are possibly going to start Clomid, they should not be taken together.

Clomid's side effects vary. I didn't have anything but some pinching pains in my right ovary when I took it in the highest dose. Some women get hot flashes, headaches, can get strong cramping, it does have a tendency to dry up cervical mucus as well, which isn't the best when trying to conceive(there are natural things you can eat/take that can help remedy it though). Usually if you take it at night, if you're going to have side effects, most of the stronger effects will pass by while you're sleeping. It can also increase your chances of having multiples. There is also a small risk of hyperstimulation of the ovaries, it can be super painful and sometimes damaging to your ovary/ovaries--not meant to scare you because it's not a common reaction, it's more of a just-so-you-know. Most docs like to keep monitoring you through the cycles by taking ultrasounds at various points in the cycle to see if it's working and can give you a window of time, based on the size, of when you might ovulate.

What sort of tests are you having run? Have you done any fertility charting with basal body temps to see if you are ovulating? It could be delayed ovulation sometimes... or happening inconsistently. With irregular periods, if you are ovulating.. the limited time frame you can get pregnant could be easy to miss. For my husband and I, even a few months in.. it was really hard to do the deed every other day just to make sure you've covered your bases to catch that egg. I ovulated for the very first time of 18 months(5 "cycles" for me) trying to conceive on a combination of drugs, one of them being Clomid and we got pregnant with our now 3 year old son.

Wishing all the best for you that you get some answers and that beautiful baby soon.
