Last month my boyfriend and I fooled around but never actually had sex. I had what I assumed was my period (I had the usual bleeding) but I don't remember seeing the (sorry for the tmi) the egg and lining (I think maybe a little bit of the lining but I don't remember the egg. I am on birth control and I usually start my period sometime between yesterday(thursdays) and today, but sometimes as late as tomorrow (saturdays). I haven't started bleeding yet and I normally am (lightly). I don't want to be pregnant, am I?

if you didnt have sex you arnt pregnant
if you are on birth control you wont see any egg??? plus they are too small to be seen...
sometimes periods just dont come.... could be many reasons... if it doesnt come talk to your doctor could be something else going on

Unfortunately there doesn't have to be penetration in order to get pregnant. It has happened that if sperm is deposited on the labia, they could find a way into your vagina and you could end up pregnant. If you had a normal period after this "fooling around" then you will not be pregnant. You will never see the egg, and the lining is the usual bleeding that you experience. I think what you should do is set up an appointment with a family planning facility and learn about conception, learn about preventing conception and protecting yourself from unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

I have been on birth control for about a year now but I just changed medicines this month (this month was the first pack), could that contribute to it being off?

Yes, changing birth control products could result in more or less hormones being released into your body. This could then result in a different cycle from your normal. It is highly unlikely that it would have allowed you to ovulate and therefore highly unlikely that you are pregnant.

Bleeding is your period. You don't need to see anything in it. When you're on the pill, there are three mechanisms that prevent pregnancy. One is that you will not ovulate (release an egg) followed by increased cervical mucus to prevent the sperm from entering the uterus and making the endometrium (the part of your uterus that sheds during your period) unsuitable for a baby to grow in.

If you bled as normal, regardless of what you "saw" in it or not, it was your period. If there was any changes to the period (it being really light or non-existent) then you would have concern.

If you take your pill at the same time every day and don't miss any pills and are not ingesting things that would influence the effectiveness of the BC (such as an antibiotic or a lot of vitamin C) then it is over 99% effective. If you just changed your BC brand/type, expect changes for 2-3 months until your body adjusts to the new medication. You may have bleeding in between periods and delayed periods or unusually light/heavy periods until your body adjusts fully

I don't remember last month's period very well but I believe it was mostly normal, it may have been a little light (I was under quite a bit of stress). So having a period this month would be reassurance that I'm not pregnant, right?
