Default Strange symptoms, used condom, Neg HPT 14 DPO, what are causing these symptoms?

    Hi Ladies,

I have been on the pill for over five years and I have never, ever missed a dose. My last period began on Jne 23rd. I could not resume taking birth control the next week because my doctor was on vacation and the prescription was up. My partner and I had intercourse on the 2, 3, and 4 of July using a condom. To my knowledge there was no contraception failure, etc. I resumed taking birth control on the 3rd, so I essentially extended the placebo week from 7 days to 14. Around July 15 I began having a few symptoms that led me to suspect pregnancy: fluttering and twitched in my lower abdomen, increased vaginal discharge, dizziness, chest pain when breathing in, and most of all VERY tender breasts, in between nipples and armpits. I took four pregnancy tests, the latest on July 20, which would be 14 DPO (if I even ovulated...). All were using first morning urine and early response tests and all very negative. One showed what I think was an evaporation line (since it looked like an indent or shadow). But my symptoms still haven't gone away.My period won't come until next week, since I extended the placebo week. But my period would normally have been due on the 20th of July (had I started a new pack when I should have). Perhaps it is also of note that on the 14th I started taking Doryx for acne. I also have rheumatoid arthritis.

My question now is- could I be pregnant and if not what is causing this?

    Thanks!

More than likely, you are not pregnant. Your body was just trying to adjust and balance the lack of hormones, then starting the pill again, your body was readjusting to the additional hormones.

Your body may be out of whack for a cycle or so, but if you have used condoms and didn't see any failure, more than likely you are safe.

Thanks Lanabear! I am paranoid, so I took another test today and still negative. It's easy o automatically assume pregnancy after watching too many episodes of I Didn't Know I was Pregnant. lol!
