What are the odds that a woman may have a miscarriage during her pregnancy? What are some ways to prevent from having a miscarriage? I hear some people say try not to strain or lift heavy items, worry and stress helps to prevent it. Are these true facts?

I am not certain what the odds are because there are so many contributing factors. You would have to concider things like family medical history (genetics), your past medical history and current health, your diet/nutrition, medications/suppliments you might be taking, if you were on birth control, hormone levels, mental stress, physical stresses to your body, smoking, drinking, and even by pure chance that there is a growth problem that would be unpredictable. There is just no way to be certain. But yes, if you put too much strain on your body, it can sometimes be the cause of a miscarriage. Some women do fine with exercize and lifting, but some women can't handle it. It just depends on you.

So, the best way to avoid any complications is to be aware of your family medical history and take preventive measures if you suspect any possible problems. Get your regular doctor check ups, eat and live healthy, exercize lightly if your body feels up to it (just don't over do it), stay positive, try to keep stress minimal, and just try to enjoy your pregnancy. Your doctor would also recommend nutritional vitamins/suppliments and I would definately take those as they are good for both you and your baby.
