    Default Weird Test Results

If you see my other post on Menstrual Cycle, you'll see that my periods been whacked for the last two times after being on Ortho Evra for two weeks and suddenly stopping it. Last period was five days late. This one is late too. Took my last pregnancy test to calms my nerves to make sure I'm not pregnant and that my cycle is just out of whack. Took a test and... Im not sure.

I have the Answer one that has two lines. The left and right line appear = pregnant. Just the right line = not pregnant. Well the right line didnt appear, which is the line that is supposed to ALWAYS show up, even if you arent pregnant. The left line showed up bold though. Should I buy a new test and try again? I know normally even a faded line on the left means you are pregnant, but I'm iffy since the line that is supposed to show up no matter what, didnt show up. Help? Kind of freaking out right now. We dont need another kid and we were using condoms. Not sure what to make of these results...

You can always buy another test, each test can have a different way that the results are interpreted so make sure you read the instructions that came with it.

I kept looking up info and the line that didnt appear is called the 'control line'. I found other women who said the same thing happened for multiple tests. They called and said that it was a positive and that all the hormones from the body were so strong that it pulled all the color to the first line. Not sure. I might buy some more and try again. Still in shock.

I would take what you are reading online with a grain of salt.

The line that didn't appear, the one that was supposed to, is your control line... That is the baseline for the test. If it doesn't show up, then your test results are null. Buy another one and retest. I believe it even says that in the insert that comes with the pregnancy test. No control line = faulty test and results shouldn't be assumed.

Buy another (cheap) test. If that one comes out strange, try a clinic for a blood test.

I usually suggest against using a test with a + readout versus the parallel lines, but in this case it may help - one line can't "pull" any of the ink because they're touching. The lines are more likely to leak into each other for a false positive though, so beware.
