    Hello everyone!

Okay Christmas is on the way! My hubby and I are traveling 900 miles home and 900 miles back. I will be 26 weeks on the way down and 28 weeks on the way back. Is there any advise out there? My doctor didnt seem very okay with the trip, but said it was fine as long as I walked and stretched at least once and hour....
We have a big vehicle with tons of room, and we are planning on no more than 8 hours a day. Is there anything I should be worried about?

No problems. Just make sure you stop and take a quick little walk to stretch.

I don't think you should have any problems. Usually Dr's are fine unless you are a high risk pregnancy. If not, it isn't unusual to even be allowed to fly until you 7th or 8th month. Drink water, stay hydrated and stretch as much as possible. Take plenty of snacks.

Do you think 11 hours would be too many?

People fly when they are pregnant and have no option to really move around, a car trip is fine. Just make sure you get up and eat some snacks, drink water etc. A car trip is not going to harm the baby. You may get a sore butt and legs though.

Thank you for the feed back its nice to be reassured. I don't think it will be so bad I've already made this trip 3 times and all while pregnant, so why should it be any different now that I'm not morning sick?

If anything it should be better! Morning sickness and car travel are two things that are absolutely miserable when combined.

I always assumed the issues with traveling while late in a pregnancy would be going into labor in a strange area, where you don't know the location of the hospital, and far from the doctors who area familiar with your case.
While it can be (really!) uncomfortable to be seated for so long, driving gives you the opportunity for breaks as necessary - to pee, walk around, and get any nutrients or water you're needing. Listen to your body. Let it dictate how far you're going to go on any given day.
Hubby and I have made the 13+ hour drive to see his family twice since the baby was born, and believe me, the trip will be much easier with the baby still in utero
