I am married and have one child. On a recent visit to a gynecologist I was told I have ovarian cysts. My husband and I are trying to have a second child and I was told this could make getting pregnant more difficult. Does anyone have any advice?

I have what is called P.C.O.S. Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome. Have had it since I had a 25lb pound cyst removed at age14. It can be more difficult to get pregnant but my advice to you is get on the birth control pill for a few months, hold off on trying to conceive. Birth control pills prevent the growth of ovarian cysts, and if u have irregular periods because of them the pill regulates those too, which is definitely a plus.Me personally, If i am not on my birth control I don't have periods at all.The cyst should dissolve,or pop within the next week or so,but my doctor told me the same thing and a year later,It had grown to 25 lbs,so I recommend a check up to see if it has gone away, but if you start a birth control pill soon, not the shot or nuva ring, the PILL,it will pop any cyst and prevent them from forming. Once you notice no cysts for about 3 months, trying for a baby should be a piece of cake.

Another thing,Google the symptoms of P.C.O.S,U may have it,It doesn't effect your lifestyle, all they do is prescribe you either birth control pills or oddly enough,a medicine that is typically used for diabetes,it is called Metphormin. If prescribed the pill, they will tell you to focus on staying on the pill permanently unless you are trying to conceive,Or if you have a hysterectomy.

Cysts are nothing to mess with, not to scare you or anything,But I really recommend a check up,because with me,not knowing a cyst was there,i had to have a c-section to get it removed and they decided to break the news to me 5 minutes before surgery that while removing cysts, they sometimes have to remove ovaries,a.k.a,a hysterectomy taking place.Luckily though they were able to keep my baby making parts intact. So I can't stress enough how important a check up is just to be sure its gone so it doesnt grow and you need further treatment...

Goodluck and hope all works out!

Thank you Gigi. I will definitively google it. I will talk to my gynecologist about getting on the pill. I think it could be a great idea. We definitively want to have another child, and don't want him/her to be too much younger than the sibling, so I am hoping you are right and we can try having a child soon. My periods, oddly enough, are still quite regular, which should help with conceiving once this issue has been resolved. Thank you so much!
