I am taking birth control pills but apparently I missed one. I followed the instructions on the packet. I’m also taking medication for Urinary Tract Infection. About 2 days after taking the medication I was having sex and my boyfriend noticed blood. I wasn't supposed to start my period until next week. I looked at my underwear and it was everywhere but I hadn’t felt cramps or even felt anything at all. But the next day I had major cramps. My period usually lasts for approximately 5 to 7 days. But this morning I didn’t have any blood at all. My period was only about a day long.
What I’m trying to say is that my period lasted one night and a day and that is not normal. Does this mean I should take a pregnancy test? Should I talk to the pharmacist? My doctor? Does anyone have an idea of what this may be? I am trying not to panic about it but I’ve read many forums that say it means a probability of pregnancy. There are so many factors that I’m worried might have to do with it also. I haven't told my boyfriend yet but I will today. Please help. I need to just relax… =/

If you've only missed 1 pill (and really only 1) you should still be protected. There is a lot of debate of whether birth control becomes ineffective when also on antibiotics, but there is no factual evidence that it does make it ineffective (even though there are many women who swear that it does). Your period may have came early due to missing that one pill as withdrawl bleeding. If you're honestly worried about being pregnant, take an at home pregnancy test (You can buy generic, they work just as well as the name brand) if you don't get your period when you normally would.
~Today, any person can fight the battles of one day It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity's- yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down. It is not the experience of today that drives people mad. It is the remorse of bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
Let us therefore, live but one day at a time.~
