Red face Trying to get pregnant--Newly married and need help:)

I only took BC for about 3 months around the time of my wedding, but I decided that I didn't like the way that I felt on it...so I got off around November 16thish, 2007. My cycles are normally 34 days long(before the pill), and I had my last period on December 17th-24th. That period was very painful (I guess my body was just getting used to me getting off of the pill) and I had tender breasts, and even thought I could be pregnant. Anyways, I wasn't and since I got off of the pill my husband and I have been having unprotected sex (in hopes of having a baby). A few days ago, I noticed that my nipples were VERY tender. I've heard of breasts being tender, but NEVER had tender nipples -is this normal? Also, this past week I've felt nauseous --but I wasn't sure if I was REALLY nauseous, or if was just in my head Until this morning, I got nauseous to a point of dry heaving for about 10 minutes--no vomit though. I'm really hoping that I'm pregnant, but am afraid it could be just my body reacting to still being off of the pill (or the taco bell I ate last night, or even it's just me ovulating? I'm not due for my next period until closer to the end of the month. Can someone please let me know their thoughts? I would really appreciate any help on this! Thanks & sorry my message is so long!

    hey kristigirl,
well you ovulate approximantly 2 weeks after your period. yes tender nipples and nausea could be symptoms of being preggers. have you taken a test yet? i have had 3 kids and all of my pregnancies were different but they all had one thing in common i was very tired in the first trimester of all my pregnancies. do you feel overly tired at all? thats how i knew i was preggers every time. also being on the pill and then getting off of it could very well wreck havoc on your body. well if you haven't already done so start taking your pre-natal vitamins to help prepare your body for a baby. also if your hubby smokes or drinks at all he should stop or at least taper down because that could drop his sperm count. well i hope i shed a little light on this subject for you.... good luck with the baby making.......

Thanks for the help Lynne. I did take a test last night, and it came out negative. -but my period isn't due for another two weeks. I don't really feel overly tired. I typically get about 9 1/2 hours of sleep a night and feel pretty good for the day. Thanks for the prenatal vitamin tip, I need to start taking those. Luckily neither me or my husband drink or smoke..the only thing my hubby is addicted to is coffee, but he's cut back to one cup every morning. Both of us love to work out, and I love to run...is it safe for me to run/do crunches/etc. in the early months of pregnancy? When I woke up this morning I had to run to the toilet again because of nausea (still not vomit though), and then when I went to work out it was tough for me to run because of the same thing. Anyways, I guess I'll know for sure in a few weeks...and if i'm not pregnant this month..there's always next month!

    hey kristigirl,
i know when you are pregnant you can work out still and do pretty much anything you did before you were pregnant but i would tend to stray away from crunches and running. opt for walking briskly instead. your doctor can tell you your limitations. i went bowling when i was 7 months pregnant with my second child and everyone stared at me like i was crazy. my doctor said it would be fine for me to do so, so i did and had no problems with it. it was quite funny to see peoples reactions when i scuffled out there to throw the ball. also you say your period is due in about 2 weeks then maybe the nausea is because your going to ovulate because this is around the time you should be ovulating. so get busy with that baby making!!!!!! good luck.......

    HI Kirstigirl!

I agree with Lynne that you should definietly start taking prenatal vitamins, i started taking those as soon as my husband and i started trying. In the first trimester its very easy to miscarry so take it easy with the working out especially the running and if you do heavy lifting you should avoid it also. Many women continue to workout while pregnant but you have to be very careful and make sure its ok with your doc. I remember my doc telling my hubby to do not let me carry any grocery bags lol.
Take a test in 2 weeks again and see what happens. Its best to have intercourse every other day when trying so it increases the sperm count. Goodluck!

Thank you both so much. I'm goin to start the prenatal vitamins for sure tomorrow. I was looking into it, and there are so many different brands. Do either of you have a suggestion as to which I should get? Also, it looks like most prenatal vitamins have folic acid in it, do I need to take more than that? --I really need to get in and see a gyno regarding these questions But I appreciate any help I can get right now. This is such an exciting time!

    Thanks again!

I bought the store brand prenatal vitamins, you can try anyone you like but i believe when you do get pregnant your doctor will prescribe prenatal vitamins for you . The folic acid in the vitamin is fine you can eat foods that have folic acid too like wheat germ. i use to add a teaspoon to my cereal everymorning. The doctor may also prescribe folic acid for you when you get pregnant.

Thanks for your responses. Just wanted to give a little update, and get yalls opinion of what you think is going on. I've had sore nipples for about two weeks now. The pain subsided for a day or two, but then came back full force a few days ago. My breasts are feeling a little tender on the bottom side, and I started cramping a few days ago. I don't have any nausea anymore, that only lasted for a few days (and that was a week or two ago). I took an hpt 2 days ago, and it came out negative. I should have my period anywhere between Jan 17th-24th. I'm hoping this just isn't my period coming on. My husband and I have had unprotected sex all month long, and on average about 4 times a week. (I think he's getting a little tired now

Any experienced opinions to help me out a little??

Dont give up if your period comes, it will happen. Stressing about it will only delay. May i ask how long you have been trying? The symptoms you are getting could be pregnancy but it can also be pre menstrual symptoms.

We have only been trying for about 2 and 1/2 months now (as long as I've been off of birth control). I know it will probably take time for my body to recover from BC; but I only took it for 3 months, so I was hoping that I would have a quick recovery. I haven't started my period yet this month, but today my cramps worsened and my breasts are HUGE and more sensitive than they ever have been. SO i'm trying not to stress...there's always next month, right?

At least by then I will be able to pinpoint my ovulation a little better.
