Exclamation TTC- tips/advice on health & care PRE conceiving!

I don't know if I'm just not searching in the right forums or what, but I noticed most of these threads are out of fear or concern of "whoops could I be pregnant?!" But I would LIKE to get preggers and have a baby soon.. I'm looking for info that's not necessarily in books.. rather from other women who've experienced it! on what I should be doing for me, for the "possible" baby- for us both to be as healthy as possible! I am already taking between 80-120 mcg of folic acid daily... (I was encouraged by my dr. to take more than the 40mcg of recommended daily amount, due to spina bifida in my family)
I have been trying to work out and get into better shape (I'm not OUT of shape really, just have old knee injuries that I'm trying to keep the symptoms from that down to a minimum) I'm also going to try and kick drinking pop because I'm a HUGE soda fan.. even diet is terrible for me...
Also, I'm currently taking YAZ.. I know it will take some time for my body to adjust, but that's why I'm interested in "picking your brain" now!

Again, any other tips or comments I would love!!! Thanks

Well I have been ttc for about a year... I think this time I might be lucky! (waiting to test due to so many disappointments) But some things I have been told, are the obvious, quit drinking and smoking, folic acid which you already are taking, start taking a prenatal vitamins now ( no need to wait til youre preggers). Also, some soda is okay, as long as its not high in caffeine...cut back on your coffee if you are into that. You can drink certain amounts of caffeine daily, but limit yourself to one soda if you must. Also, diet sodas are just as bad because of the aspartame. I would just stay away from it, even though I dont know if anything is proven. Stock up on tums and tylenol(its the only painkiller thats okay to take). hmm I will let you know if I think of anything else.

Thanks those tips are great! I don't drink coffee so that won't be a problem.. And I think it'll be easier to kick the soda all together than limit it I love chai tea tho (which has tons of caffeine so I guess a small one now and again will be my kick) Also any thoughts on energy drinks? (my favorite are the low carb monsters, which are really high in vitamin B12 (source of energy, rather than caffeine) Do you have a specific brand of pre natal vitamins you'd recommend? (do I have to get that as a prescription or at the local vitamin shoppe?)
Thanks again for your response!! (and Congrats, if the tests come back positive!!)

Default no problem!

absolutely NO energy drinks at all that was hard for me since I loved rockstars. but they are awful for you! WAY too much caffeine. even on the can, it says not recommended if you ar e preggers I know its disappointing! As for the prenatals, you can pick them up with all the other vitamins on the shelf at your local drug store (like vitamin C, etc) You dont need a prescription. There isnt a specific one I would recommend, because I just use my local pharamsave brand. They all pretty much contain the same amount of everything you need! As for the chai tea...yeah every once in a while, having one of those isnt going to be bad for you. I think I told you tylenol is the only painkiller you can take? hmm what else...oh if you have cats, i would get your boyfriend/hubby used to changing the litter box now! Because when youre preggers, you cant because of a disease called toxoplasmosis. so thats kind of a bonus! and thank you for the luck! I really feel like I am! tomorrow I test!
