Unhappy Never getting Pregnant...

Okay, I have limited insurance, and am very unhealthy (diabetes, infertility(possibly), PCOS, etc etc.), and even though I've tried diets, self help books, everything I can THINK of, no one will help me. I haven't had a regular period in over 9 months, and even when I do have my "period" it lasts like a day and is light as it can possibly be. I've told the doctor that does my papsmear every 6 months that I'm scared my PCOS and my diabetes is going to cause me to infertile when I get older, and even though I don't want children right now, I would still like to have them when I get older. But they won't test me for PCOS because of my insurance and they won't test me for infertility because of my AGE! I've been with my fiance for over 2 years now, and we've been having sex unprotected for almost a year now. I've been told that if you are trying to get pregnant (or not preventing it.) and it doesn't happen within a year that you're considered infertile. I know how hard it is to get pregnant, but my body isn't even ovulating! If I were ovulating, I'd have my period, and I Don't. So, someone please help me... some way... information... insurance programs that are made for people who are broke lol.... something... I don't want my Pcos problem to be the reason I can't have children later on in life after I'm married.

ANd don't think I'm not doing anything to make myself healther. I walk daily, I am on weight watchers and losing little by little, until I'm at the right weight, and I do everything I can do to better myself, but it doesn't change the fact that I have diabetes, and have PCOS.

Any and all information is appreciated and thank you in advance.

I understand what you are going through. I'm not trying to get pregnant but my cycles are so weird that I started to look into it. I will be 22 at the end of the month and I was complaining about this since I was 19 years old. My doc finally sent me to get bloodwork done to see if was my thyroid. Bloodwork came back normal. She put me on the pill for three months to see if it was a hormone inbalance. Well if it takes sometime for the body to adjust after BCP wouldn't she get a false result when testing for hormones. I would think so. I've decided that I'm going to temp and use that as my birth control. When finding more information and recommendations I was speaking with nurse who thinks that it may be PCOS. She recommended a low-glycemic diet. I have been looking into that. I'm slightly overweight (have been losing weight slowly since January 2006). I'm also changing the negative things that were in my lifestyle in hopes that this will balance out my cycles. I've had unprotected sex with my CLH and we (as far as we know) have never been pregnant. It could just be not having enough sex, not having it at the right time or it could be a fertility problem. I don't want a baby right now but I do want to preserve my fertility. I know that this probably doesn't help you much but you are most definately not the only one with the same type of issues.

Smile carbs are bad!!!!

I understand exactly what you are going through as well. I also have PCOS and I am also prediabetic. I am married and we are currently trying to get pregnant. I have been getting treated for it for 1 year now and if there is one thing I have learned is everyone reacts to things differently. Also I have learned that jut because you have it doesnt mean that you are infertile. I am on different meds but the biggest thing the doctor has told me to do is watch your diet. I am overweight and have been trying to control that with different diets throughout the year but have recently learned that you majorly need to watch your carb intake. I have not lost any weight in over a year but since being on this diet for 2 months I have already lost 15 pounds. That is the best answer I can give you. I know it is not to comforting but that is all I have. Also if it helps I have heard a couple times throught this year that even you loss 5% of your body fat that ups your chances fertility by like 50%. Just keep that 5% in mind and keep that as your goal. I hope everything gets worked out for you.

Default hi!

Well I dont have PCOS and am not even sure of what it is but I can tell you that my husband and I have tried getting pregnant for two years. Two miscarriages later we are finally pregnant and going strong on our 13th week. Doing very well. I wasn't able to get pregnant due to stress. We had very stressful lives. Then as soon as things calmed we got pregnant and it was when we weren't trying. I don't know what cities yall are in but I am in a small town in texas. We have a clinic here where girls go to get free pregnantcy tests. If they come up positive the clinic assists them in getting on state aid if qualified. Some woman who have had problems in the past either infertility or multiple miscarriages, they refer them to my doctor who is the leading fertility specialist in 5 counties. And the state aid (medicaid) pays for it all. So it all depends on if you have medicaid in your state. There are always clinics that can help. I can also find out which area you are in and call my clinic to see if they have a relative clinic in your area. I can do what I can to help. I know what it feels like to feel like you will never get pregnant or worry about the possibilites. If yall would like me to help out in any way please let me know! Thanks!

Default I'm New Here

Hey I am 24 and from Kentucky. My husband and I have been married for 4 years now and we have been trying from the get go to get pregnant. We have finally decided to get a little help from the doctor. Our 1st appointment is on the 26th of this month. I realize my weight is an issue with my fertility so we are dieting and have been dieting on and off for the past year. I just really need the support from people who know what we are going through. Sometimes I feel like its never going to happen but I don't EVER give up hope. Thanks for listening and thanks for being there.
