I accidentally ran across a sandwich that my husband loves. I put 2 of them in his lunch at least once a week. It is a roast beef and cheddar on a sourdough roll.
To make it you will need:
Sourdough rolls
Deli roast beef (I always get "Charlies Pride"
Deli super sharp cheddar cheese
Cream cheese spread
"Tamed" bottled Sliced Jalapeno peppers (He don't like them too hot)
I toast the rolls in a toaster oven for 30 seconds, let them stand, then toast them again (don't let them get too brown). This forms a crunchy crust on the rolls. When cooled, open the roll and scoop our part of the soft insides. (Being diabetic, I always do this to lower the carbs but hubby likes that way too)
Spread some cream cheese on top and bottom parts of roll. Top cream cheese with several slices of jalapeno pepper. Add a generous portion of roast beef to top and bottom parts. Top with slices of super sharp cheddar cheese. Then place the open sandwich in the toaster over and set it on top brown. Toast to slightly brown the cheese.
Can eat hot right away or let cool before wrapping for eating later. My husband had me make these instead of a regular dinner when his work mates came over. Everybody seemed to enjoy them with potato chips and beer (no beer for hubby or me).
Zen is more of an attitude than a belief.
