Fire(m) : you know the saying... NEVER TRUST A SKINNY CHEF! lol
as for OG612: start small. pick up cookbooks, learn technique. and WATCH top chef! and GOOD EATS! lol. i love those shows! (wow, i sound like a PR) anyway. you can start by making mashed potatoes add some garlic in the water when you boil it. NEVER forget your friends SALT & PEPPER.
you can also pick up some classes they might offer at local kitchen stores. get to know your surroundings (kitchen, kitchen appliances..etc) they are your friends. pick up a good knife! keep it sharp. a dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one. ahhhhhh...im getting too technical. LOL
....have fun. the most important thing. good luck and keep me updated. im curious to know what you have done!

I really like allrecipes.com and also campbellskitchen.com. The Campbells one uses the soup, of course, so it might sound like cheating, but there are some awesome recipes and some pretty easy ones too. With a lot of them guests won't even know what's in them!
Also, just experiment with recipes you already like and try new things. Good luck.
