Default Basically... I'm a Kitchen Virgin

I won't say that I'm "clueless" in the kitchen, but I am rather impaired when it comes to the culinary arts.

Does anyone here know any good websites where a single guy like me can find some good, savory recipes?

Appreciation in advance.

Buy a Betty Crocker cookbook. $20 and you have cooking tips, measurement guide, simple recipes (such as bernaise sauce), and meals. Or go to my favorite meal planner Rachel Ray. 30 minute meals, too good to be true.

DUDE!!!!!!!!
I'm right alongside you. I watched food tv about a year ago and decided I wanted to be able to cook. I cooked my first meal for me and my wife and then decided that I'm cooking EVERYTHING for the forseeable future. That was a year ago and I'll just put it to you like this: I haven't lost any weight.

Go to food tv's website. If you have to, you can do a google on it. They have everything you need. FREE!

A great site is allrecipes.com- it's a great way to learn new recipes and you can comment on the ones you've tried and post you own. You can even build your own recipe box of ones you've tried and want ot try. Foodnetwork.com is great too, because they will rate the diffuculty of each recipe, too

Thanks D&C! I'll look in to those. And I didn't know that about the Food Network website. Awesome.

to become a good cook, all you have to do is EXPERIMENT!
Think of your favourite foods, and ways to make them even better.
Try different spices, herbs, and ways of cooking things.
A reallllyyyy easy recipe is shepherds Pie....and its filling.

There is a first for everything, even for Kitchen Virgins!

Don't know about web sites but the best instructional cook book I've found (order one for each kid, nieces and nephew) when they were leaving home, is, Essentials of Cooking by James Peterson. Great photos, clear instructions and wonderful food!
