I'm in a great relationship with a wonderful loving guy.Sometimes [A lot] I feel so close that I really want to breastfeed him,it's a strong need.I have talked to him and he would like it very much.We are in our fifties and I wonder if I could produce anythig from my breasts and if this would be abnormal.Could I get some advise please?. Thank you, Kathy
From what I gather it's quite possible to induce lactaction without children etc. - but I can't say how, you should be able to find some reading about it through google or something.
During pregnancy the little ducts in your breast open up/grow wider bc of the influence of estrogen, progesterone, prolactin and other hormones. Then when you have the baby, your hormone levels drop except the prolactin, which increases. Then vuala you lactate. So maybe look into some sort of hormone regimen.
Also (i don't know for sure if this is true) I have heard that thru stimulating your nipples your body will develop prolactin so maybe if you buy a breast pump or get your husband to suckle your nips like a babe would you will produce the breastmilk! Good luck
As I understand it virtually any woman can lactate or relactate. You might check le leche league, get on your search engine and look up ANR or relactation, or go into a larger adult shop in your area and see what they have.
You can take rose hip tea or supplements once you are lactating to increase your milk supply. I don't think it will actually cause milk production if you aren't already lactating, but you might want to look into it. They sell it at most health food stores.
