That's the annoying thing! She just won't let it go. If you are light and breezy with her, she'll find the next lull in the conversation to drag the poor horse out and beat it again! She doesn't "take the hint" even though it's totally out there! She knows it. It's like she's needling just to be annoying... she's very clever.... not in fashion or in the kitchen, but about how to get under people's skin.... very very clever....
Thank you Yvee, I'll try it again, but thankfully it won't be until June! Hopefully I won't be annoyed any more and this thing will have washed over some in my mind!

It's official. I'm throwing the towel in....Uncle and Shrew are going to Portugal in June. Shrew is BRINGING A FRIEND. I'm at a loss for words, but he's clearly a sychophant.... and I really have nothing to say at this point.

I think as your protective of your sister, your protective of him.
And, that she knows this, that you don't like her, didn't like her from get go and is heck bent on trying to "get in" to the family.
Maybe they aren't close. Maybe this girlfriend is there because otherwise, she'd be bored, maybe they have run their course, maybe your wish will come true
But, I can see that your protecting him... and therefore, nothing she will say or do will ever be okay because you have this feeling, that she's just not good for him, to him...

Curious though, because our gut feelings are usually correct, what makes you think that? What has she said, or he said, that makes your gut tell you that?
And, if you are correct in that anology, then clearly you have a right to tell him, that you love him, don't trust her and really, really respect him, want to see him but from now on, your deeply sorry but you don't and can't communicate with her...

It's funny that you mention bringing up talking to him about it - we can't.... tell him point blank what we think of her.... for fear of alienating either of them. Uncle would be offended, and that wouldn't be good.
I actually worked for the same company shrew did a few years ago, and frankly, liked her.... there was never bad blood between us (honestly, she's so oblivious, that she doesn't even know that there is) until she just showed "her true colors" - which are tacky.
Uncle is an odd duck. Always has been, always will be. He's made his bed, I don't know why he's chosen burlap sheets, but he has, and now he has to itchy-scratchy sleep in them!
And my "gut" tells me that she's dreadful b/c my middle name is "Clair Voyant!" (even though I know that it's one word.
