I've been married for WAAAAAAY to long! We did the JOP, went on the cheap... but suddenly we both want to actually "do it"- ergo.. parents! WTF??? Yikes! I just want it in my parents back yard. On the terrace.

Can someone explain to me WHY parents want to be total "buttinskies" at the end of the day? Really? I'd rather have the money as opposed to a feaux wedding!

Any feedback is fabulous! I know that I sound so mean, but I'm not. I'm frugal.

Because your their "princess" and because, you've already done it on the cheap

It's your day, it's a special day, limit your friends/family to really close ones and make it special

You always say the best thing, CW!

I totally "get" the whole "wedding thing" - it's just not me. I'll be wearing a fabulous flapper dress.... I also understand that my parents want something too.... it's a big day! I get that - but perhaps they should have "gotten" it like five years ago!!!

    Sheesh.

Take as a re-affirmation and an excuse to dress up and have some fun. You don't have to go overboard at all.

My brother got married in my parents yard. It was small and casual but probably the best wedding I've ever been to. You can definitely do it and make it fun and nice for everyone without spending a ton of money.

    Default It'll be "official"

I've been married by the "common law" for years. Now - this summer I'm making it official.............. and it's annoying! I just don't want a big wedding. It's not me, and I'm not "churchy" - also "Like Humans Do" is one of the songs that I want..... Why is it so hard to just do something that you want? When does making other people happy end?

    Any feedback is fabby....

Oh, go get married at Corwin House in Salem and call it a day, you grouchy lady you.

Go do a beach wedding on the Cape, khaki's, no shoes, relax and picnic. You don't have to be "churchy" to get married, especially just to please other people.

BIL got married on the beach, it was the best wedding I ever went to. Probably 12 people and I believe it cost them $300.

If you are gonna do it, do it for you and nobody else.

It's so funny how weddings really do become the day of everyone else. I just want to have my piece with my Bob. Make it actually "legal" - as opposed to whatever we've been doing for these years! grrrr.
