Default believe in a soul mate?

As a maturing woman, not a young girl I come with the question, Is there such a thing as a soul mate? Does one truly have the ability to meet their one true love? I want to believe that I have experienced that true love. But the sad thing is that he is no longer in my life. I love him still after all these years. And he has said he still loves me. But we still remain apart. How can I get him back? Should I? Or how do I finally get over him (for my own emotional health)?

I believe that you can love many people and be loved by many, but your soul mate is not someone who you just love, or who you meet in the street and fall for instantly. What I believe is that a soul mate is someone who over time being together you have learned everything about, the sounds he makes when he sleeps, the facial expressions he makes that tell you how he really feels even when he doesn?t mean to make them, the rhythm of his heart beat, what makes him laugh, smile, cry etc I think soul mate is not so much someone you were with or are still newly with or even haven?t met yet, but a stage in a relationship, when even the things he does that drive you crazy are in comparison to how much you love him nothing at all, that is what a soul mate is to me well soul mates really
