My boyfriend and I have been going out for just over 3 years now and lately he has been kind of distant and we haven't been seeing eye to eye. We argue about ****** things and every time we make up it still doesn't feel like we have actually made up. Today I checked his email which I don't do often, and it seems he has been talking to an ex-girlfriend, reminiscing about old times but apparently she has a boyfriend and for some reason my boyfriend has failed to mention to her that he has a girlfriend. I don't want to confront him about it yet because I don't know if I am making a mountain out of a mole hill.
What should I do about this?

You could just be in a rut. Try making an effort to spend some quality, fun time together and see if anything changes.

I think that people may talk to ex's because it in someways makes them feel more secure.... If guys or girls are experiencing a rut then they may be feeling insecure. Like it makes them feel as though they still have there friends... if things dont work out.... I know that sounds bad... but it doesnt mean he will go out and be with her, he may just want attention.
