Default what is going on?

I recently decided to contact a guy I had worked with to see how he was doing. I called his job and left a message for him to call me along with my cell phone number. When I checked my phone later in the day I found five call backs from him, the first coming fifteen minutes after I left the message for him. He called four more times in the next hour and a half, leaving his cell phone number as a call back number. He called again after work and this time I answered the phone. I expected him to say something like "hi. How are you doing?" Instead he said he did not know who I was. What is going on? Could he have forgotten me that quickly? It was only about four months since I last saw him. Is he playing some kind of game? I was so stunned at his reaction that I did not know what to say. I simply hung up. Should I call him back or just forget about his strange reaction?

Strange that he would leave messages with his number on your cell phone asking a 'complete stranger' to call him back. But I think you should leave him alone. He has your number. If his memory comes back, he can still call you. He sounds like a very busy man.

To be honest, i have had text messages and thought who is that, as i haven't programmed them into the phone.

He seemed to be curious as to who wanted to say hi how are you. In your thread, i am assuming you left your name at the end...

Your name could be common? And, 4 months ago is a long time.

Not sure if you dated him but again, if it was causal he may have dated a few since over 4 months, again if you did, you don't say how long for? If you didn't and you were ok at work, he could be thinking the message was from someone he dated?

A simple misunderstanding i think...

Perhaps you need to explain a little more so we can answer what you maybe should consider from here...

I did not call and leave him a text message. I called his job and left my name and number for him to call me back. Right before he left the job where we worked together, he talked about us getting together. He actually invited himself to my home. We spent alot of time talking on the job--during breaks, etc. Also, my name is not common. In all my life, I have met fewer than five people with the same name. Also, we knew each other at work for almost a year. He may have worked there longer but that is how long I knew him.

Yes, i know, i was pointing out not knowing what occured between you both that sometimes i don't recall a person..

However, perhaps he was very keen on you then, if he talked about getting together and invited himself over but feels a bit, "who are you" as 4 months have gone by and then you call to say hi.... He may just be thinking, now you want to know me.... a feel of rejection perhaps.

Seemingly as you worked together for almost a year and our name is not common.

But, he did call back several times, perhaps that keeness is still there, you could always call back and say, now that you've had your fun, not knowing my name, how are you... Make it as a joke if your keen to persue it now.. See what happens.
