My best friend met someone online through a Zelda fan forum and they've never met in person, but me and him have now started talking and he's thinking about coming to visit me and everything. I don't usually do this online stuff (meeting people online) and I'm just wondering what other peoples' experiences are.

Firstly, have you asked your best friend what she thinks of this guy? I mean what if she likes him and then gets upset that you two are going to meet... Probably you have, but just in-case you haven't it's worth the thought.

Secondly, don't have him meet you at your home, or give out your address, cyberspace is an amazing thing but also one you have to be causious of, very much so. I have dated from it, and made friends from it and met some weirdos. I know.

Don't expect him to look exactly as his photo, if there is a photo as they never quite to, and people are way more chatty on a site than they are in real life, unless they "connect" and usually that's because they've talked about everything over a long, very long period of time, so it may go slowly.

And, in-case it is all about what he can get from you, consider this as well, as often it's just a means to get another girl in bed, if you know what i mean.

Having said that, don't get me wrong, as i have met some great people, they are real, themselves and i still know them...

I'm just saying consider the above as well.
