Default Discomfort after oral sex

I love giving my husband oral sex. I am completely comfortable with my genitals and I like when he touches me. Our sex life is good. He would really like to return the oral favor sometimes, but I experience itching and a lot of discomfort for about 2 - 5 days after receiving oral sex. In the past, I have asked that he brush his teeth beforehand but it didn't help. And of coarse I wash myself afterward each time. He hasn't gone down on me in almost a year. Any advice? Is this normal?

What about sensitivity to lotions, aftershave, soap, shampoos, mouth wash?
Do you shave? That combined with contact with something irritating could do it. Why do you need to wash yourself each time after oral? Is that trying to prevent irritation?

It could have something to do with his facial hair. Does he have a beard or even a five o'clock shadow could rub you the wrong way? My father in law had a big bushy beard when my daughter was small and it would cause her skin to be irritated and itchy when he kissed her. Maybe your husband should shave before hand or (if he has one) condition his beard when he gets in the shower to try to make it softer.

Yeah. I do have sensitivity to lotions and fragrant soaps and the like. And yeah. He's always scruffy. Yeah the washing has been in attempt to save myself the discomfort. You guys have been helpful, thank you!

Try ditching all soaps for down there and only wash with water and a washcloth. Get him to use a more "natural" toothpaste (they have them in health food stores) that doesn't have all the chemicals more mainstream toothpastes have.
