Default HPV-Need some Answers!

Can you transmit it orally? Like...if there is no outbreak present, and someone does oral "stuff" to someone with it...could they get warts on their mouth..or other consequences? My friends and I were talking about this because recently one got the Guardisil vaccine and it was quite the debate!

Thanks!

yes, HPV can be transmitted orally.
I'm not sure about the warts part, but I do know that it can cause throat cancer just like it causes cervical cancer.
That's why it's important to get tested for HPV also.

Now what about if an outbreak is not present?

doesn't matter, it's viral so it can still be passed.
so if there's no warts present it doesn't necessarily mean it's safe, just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there...just like herpes.
so it's always best to use protection unless you know for sure neither partner has HPV
i'm no doctor, just a college kid...
the cdc site has the best info...

From my understanding there doesn't have to be any hpv symptoms going on for you to transmit it to the mouth or anywhere else for that matter. But I'm sure the chances are slimmer. Either way this would be something you should talk to your doctor about and see what she says. Then come back and let us know cause I'm a little curious myself.
