Thread: Septate Hymen

I understood very recently that I have Septate Hymen and so me and my husband are facing trouble having intercourse.
Can anyone tell me is it abnormal to have Septate Hymen ? Can this be removed by surgery ? Is it very painful ? How long does the surgery last generally ?
Will it be easy to penetrate and do intercourse once this problem is solved ?

The surgery is an out patient procedure, but I don't know how long it lasts, so you should be in and out in a day. They do recommend you not have sex for 2 weeks after the surgery. I also have a septate hymen but I never knew it was different so mine broke when I lost my virginity. It hurts to have it break, to the surgery might be your best bet. Though I have heard of people who manage to get it to stretch to allow them to have sex. I wish you luck.
