Okay so I had a LEEP done a year ago. If you don't know, a LEEP is where they take a few layers of your cervix off in the hopes they take your pre-cancerous cells off and healthy ones grow back in. By the way, my margins were clear, so they got it all and i did have a normal pap 6 months after. I have another pap in October just to make sure its still normal.
I noticed a bump once about 4 years ago and i actually pulled it off. I asked a nurse practitioner at Planned parenthood about it and she said it might have just been a skin tag but never recommended i check it out. Then about a year ago i noticed a couple bumps there and i went to my pap and my doctor didn't say anything... Looking back i should have had her check it out but of course no one wants to think they have genital warts. Thing is I've been sleeping with the same guy for almost 4 years. 3 of those years have been unprotected sex because I'm on BC now. My pap in October I'm going to request my doctor look at them and take a biopsy or whatever you do for them... But I can't help but think that its weird that I've been sleeping with the same guy for 3 years unprotected and he wouldn't have had a wart if that is what it is. We have sex about once a week so that is 52 chances a year he has to catch that. |

It could be HPV, but from what I understand sometimes a person who has it may never get any bumps, or may get them and they go away and never return.

Hi,
Genital warts in the early stages will cause only flat lesions that barely elevate over the surface of the skin. These are hard to detect. There are many treatment options available ranging from creams and gels that can be applied on doctor's advice. |

A PAP only tests for cancerous or precancerous cells...which CAN be caused by HPV.
Most times, you actually have to request an HPV test while you are getting your PAP. Make sure you ask them for both an HPV test and a PAP next time you're in. Good luck. |
