Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the forums and I'm glad I stumbled on this website because it has a lot of good information. I have a question and I'm hoping you guys could help me with. I'm recently divorced and since then I've reconnected with a gentlemen who I've known for a little over 10 years. We'd lost touch, but reconnected on Facebook and we've been conversing over the phone ever since. I know that eventually we'll "go there" because the attraction is still there after all these years. My concern is with using condoms. I know that this is par for the course and I do plan on using them at all times, but my concern is that it will cause our sex to be unenjoyable. When I was single I remember that condoms would frequently cause me to chafe after sex - usually not at the onset, but as it progressed. And I'd be near raw afterwards. ![]() My question is what tips can you guys provide, be it products or "setting the stage", that could help with this? I know the obvious answer is lubricant, but can you guys recommend a lubricant that gives the provides the right amount of moisture without losing the friction that comes with intercourse? Again, any tips (products or otherwise) would be greatly appreciated. Going from not ever having to use condoms (while married) to using them is going to take a lot of getting used to and I want to make the transition as pleasurable as possible. Thanks! |

Oi, I know how you feel. I really don't like condoms for this reason. They just almost immediately make me so DRY! I haven't tried using a lubricant, so I don't know what to recommend in regards to that... But it had crossed my mind that maybe I'm allergic to latex, hence the immediate dryness and discomfort. Have you tried other types of condoms?

I didn't know there were others besides latex.
Well let me correct that...I've heard of lamb skin condoms but I'd heard that they don't prevent stds. What other types are there?

Lambskin are as good at disease prevention as latex, and far far better feeling!
Take it from a guy... |

I have a problem with this too; latex sensitive, allergic to most lubes and condoms dry me out like sponge. Saliva does the trick.

Thanks for the tips guys! Especially you, TexasRed for the info about the lambskin condoms. That will be the ones I choose. Are they hard to find? Can I pick them up at the local Walmart or do I need to go to a specialty store?

everything i have read about lambskin condoms suggest that they are porous (just like our thin membranes) and are not effective for std prevention.
just a brief fyi. do a little search before you buy them. in my condom wearing days, when i was in a long term relationship (std test et al), i definately preferred lambskin condoms. better heat transfer and they stay slippery. best bet is to find a lube that works for you. my current wonderful gf always tells me to not be stingy with the lube. best of luck from another divorcee that has a new found love of life! |

Thanks Alterview! I'll be sure to do my research. I have known my friend for a long time and I do feel a sense of security with him, although we haven't done anything yet, but I'll make sure to give more thought to the lambskin - maybe using them when and if we become committed to each other. I guess plenty of KY it is, lol!
Thank you guys for all the responses.
