Yea that one kind of caught my eye to. If your not using a condom, which is a good idea for anal (even when clean, there is a lot of potential bacteria), you may even wish to use an oil based lube, as they tend to last longer than water based KY, which will obsorb into the skin and evaporate. From what i've been told (friend of mine loves it) there is no such thing as too much lube, and futureboys early steps are the way to go.

Make sure your guy understands that he is not to go for full penetration right off, that could be very painful. Do your best to ensure that you are relaxed as possible, tension will make it more difficult for him to enter and may cause pain.

As far as cleanliness is concerned, keep yourself regular as mentioned above, if your still a little self-concious you can try using an enema kit. After wards I would recommend him cleaning his penis well before putting it anywhere else, as the associated bacteria could cause things like urinary tract infections and what not.

Crisco may be better than petroleum jelly but who is still using petroleum jelly for anything sex related anymore? I wouldn't use or recommend either one. There are far better products made now that lubricate better while being thinner and without leaving as much mess behind.

jsgirl-Futureboy gave some great advice, just to touch up on his points..the main thing you want to remember is to relax thoroughly before he tries anything on you back there(finger/dildo etc)
and LUBE is super duper important and a MUST
I love Astroglide or KY Silky glide forumula(not the warming lubes though, just regular good ol lube)
be careful if he is going to use his finger to start with you, make sure his nails are nice and short!
What I like to do is take a few deep breathes to fully relax before he enters
the beginning is the most uncomfortable because the first 2 inches of our back end opening is extremley tight, just remember that it wont be as uncomfortable once he gets it almost all the way in, its only uncomfortable for about a few seconds while he is getting it in
Make sure he goes very slow, he may try to enter a few times and you may want to just throw him off of you but just relax, breathe, and relax your "back end" completley
Once he gets it about half way in, you should be good to go
