As far as the original question. Seriously, guys are different, and i feel like you have to relearn every time you get a new partner. You have to ask him what he likes - try a couple different techniques and positions, and sometimes you can obviously tell what he likes better, sometimes ask during, or after. I don't believe there is any cookie cutter way to give head. I'm sure he won't mind you practicing on him
