Hard Time With Self-Penetration

I don't know if anyone else can relate to this, but I can't get jelly dildos or cucumbers into my vagina. It's weird because I bought an Oasis vibrator that's about 1 inch thick and had no problem getting it in, but when I tried the jelly vibrator (it's shaped like a penis and is about 6 inches long) and even a cucumber, I can't even get it past the head. It slips down past the hole. Is it too thick? Is it the texture I'm having difficulty with? I noticed that the Oasis vibrator texture is hard and easy to put in. Maybe I'm not doing something right? I've had one successful pap smear that really burned and a more recent one where the doctor had to stop in the middle of it because it was so painful for me (she got the speculum inside but wasn't able to open it because I was too tight). Does this have anything to do with me not being able to use dildo vibrators? Please help! I'm a virgin, but I wanted to try some things by myself before I did the real deal. And I feel pretty pathetic not being able to use a cucumber or sex toy =/

Are you using any kind of lubrication?

Are you tense when you're doing it?? If you get nervous, it naturally causes you to tighten up... maybe you should consciously try to relax while doing it? Or maybe the size is too dramatic of an increase?

Yeah I was thinking maybe the size was too much of an increase too fast. I don't know how to describe it, but it's like I can feel it pushing inside but then it slides down. Maybe it's too thick and I'm not use to it?
