    Default Are sex toys harmful?

Are sex toys harmful? like dildos? Can they cause long term problems with your body, or it is okay to use one? I really wanna know, because I plan on owning one, not now but pretty soon. And if they aren't harmful, where's the best place to get one? but I want a cute pink one, and not too big either like 4 inches in length or maybe a little longer, but not big... So are they harmful? If so, why? If not, where can I find one? I also wanna know, if I'm a virgin, will it make my first time experience with a real penis/ losing your virginity feel any different because me using a dildo now?

No they are not harmful, yes they are safe to use. You can cause desensitization if you use a vibrator a lot, but it can be recovered by not using a vibrator for a period of time.

There are plenty of online stores to get them from. Good Vibrations, Edens Fantasys, Adam & Eve, etc.

It may or may not make your first time feel different, it depends... The real thing is far far better than the fake, but at first it may not feel like it.

I think there are zillions of different toys on the market because different people like different things. Don't think you need to get the expensive ones - I've gotten my wife a couple of well recommended expensive toys and she didn't like either, but prefers a much more standard one. The desensitization from vibrators is real as well - suggest you don't over indulge.

Virginity means different things to different people. To some, using an internal toy would count as loosing your virginity. Personally I think the whole concept is silly - and that people should learn if they are compatible in bed with their partners before they get marrried.

No sex toys are not harmful if used in moderation. If you would use them a couple times a day every day it will desensitize you from real sex but this is not normally what happens. I use mine for foreplay and about 2 times a week when I get really horny. You can purchase these from many online sites as well as some local stores. Also I agree with the above do not buy the most expensive ones I bought a cheaper little bullet and it does wonders for me.

I agree with LanaBear. It shouldn't hurt you as long as it's not giant or something. I'd imagine it'd make your first time less painful, but that in my book would be a plus. I'm technically a virgin but I owned a small vibrator for a while. I got rid of it after a while in part because I felt so much more turned on just doing foreplay with my man than penetration alone with the toy. So don't think it's necessarily gonna be this amazing thing, but for you it might be. Definitely worth a try if it's something you think you'll like. Definitely safer than sex as long as you follow hygiene practices with cleaning it. No risk of pregnancy or STDs. I'd suggest buying condoms to use with it so that it's more hygienic. I mean, still clean it, but that way there's less of a risk of giving you an infection down there. Good luck.

Guys. Using a vibrator does not affect the clitoris. Which is what the part of the body the posters here are talking about. I worked in sex shop for some time, nice shop, aimed at couples and women so as suggested there are lovely shops in which to browse. I would also suggest looking at MD online as they have discussed this very topic. If you are still concerned then don't rub it over that part of your body. I use my vibrator more than twice a week and has not affected my body at all! I still have sex and reach great heights with my husband.

Also I would recommend buying a lubricant. Careful as to which one you buy. Depending on the toy you purchase the lubricant will have to work with the material of the toy ie: Silicone toys and Silicone lubricant are a no no! It will melt the toy. Water based, oil or organic lubes will do! Research!

Lubricant is a personal thing and it may take you a few goes to find one that you like! I know it took me about 5 different products! A good shop will have samples! And testers.

Phthalates look out for those. the box should say PHP free. If you are not sure ask! They are little nasty things inside plastic, even found in childrens cups and bottles.

As for the toy... the best part... always for a first one I would suggest something small with a few settings (low med strong) start out basic and go from there. I would stay away from dildo's for a first timer and go with a vibe. Dildo's don't vibrate so you may need someone to help you. And they are usually penis shaped, and from my experience some women, especially first timers can find it off putting!

You can buy online but I would recommend finding a good shop with even better staff!

    I hope this helps!

It obviously may not affect all, as everyone is different, but it does in fact affect some. I speak from experience as do many others.

Obviously, I don't think twice a week (as you use it) is excessive, but I feel that if one does use it excessively, it will desensitize the clitoris, not permanently as I stated though. It boils down to a persons individual sensitivity to the sensation.

I carry one in my hand bag! So I get busy fairly often! I think it is the best stress relief and most satisfying, for me anyways. I said twice beacuse Sally said she used hers twice a week!
LanaBear I have looked around and I can not find much information suggesting that it could damage your clit. However, I did read some info about some women have used their vibe in a way I would not suggest and seem to have found themselves in a tight spot. With desensitised clits. But I always love reading and learning and hearing other females perspectives, it is what makes us unique!
As always with sex, toys, foreplay, kissing and everything else in life it's always about the individual! So there is truth in what you said.
I am actually hoping that one day after I finishing travelling I can use my degree and finish another one and do some workshops for women in regards to themselves and sex... It's a passion of mine. One that my Mother doesn't know about! ;-)
