Lightbulb pain during sex...

hey everyone... i'm new to this whole thing, so it may take me a few times to figure everything out. but my question is... here lately, i have been having incredible pain around the lower pelvic area during intercourse.. it feels like something is poking me over and over again... and sometimes if i push down on the area, the pain eases up for a few seconds... along with this problem, i also have no sex drive.. i've been on birth control for about 5yrs now and i'm starting to question if that may have something to do with it..i don''t know.. if any of you have any ideas please let me know.. i'm just really confused about this and it's very stressful as well... thanks

Birth control can cause exactly what you are describing. Birth control causes changes in your hormone levels which directly effect your sex drive and can cause painful intercourse. The change in hormones causes you to not desire sex. When you are "not in the mood" your body does not prepare for sexual activity the way it should. When you get excited and sexually aroused, your cervix retracts to make more room. If you are not excited, your cervix will not retract and the penis will hit the cervix... which can be rather forcefully. If you do this enough times, you will become sore of course. I personally experienced those symptoms while on Depo Provera. I had a great man that is really attractive and yet I had no desire for him or anyone else for that matter. Now that I am off of birth control.... well... let's just say it's the complete opposite now. I would suggest to stop taking birth control and use condoms or something. Keep in mind it can take a long time for your hormones to get back to normal so you can't expect immediate results.

Also, remember that it is possible it could be something else. There's no way of knowing without getting an exam from a doctor.

Question since this message...

hey how are? thank you so much for your help earlier..well, since then, i have recently stopped taking my birth control pills for about 3 months now....well, my periods have been sorta regular, a few days off every month. but no big deal. well, my last period was on august 8th.. and i have yet to have one this month!! my stomach keeps cramping like i'm about to start but nothing... i have also been spotting for the past few days as well..so i went the day after i was late and took a home pregancy test, it was negative but my period still hasn't came yet. i just started a new job so i'm thinking that maybe that could be the reason, with stress and all. what do you think?? i'm so nervous!!!!!!
