Thread: vaginal odour and bleeding

Hi, I am 26 years old and have been with my boyfriend for nearly 3 months. I have been on the pill for a while now and until recently we had been using condoms as well as I wanted us to both get tested before we stopped using them. We both got tested and the results were clear, I had been tested a few years ago and had never had unprotected sex but wanted to be sure as I've heard you can catch things from oral etc. So we stopped using condoms and have had unprotected sex together now - obviously I'm still on the pill.

However, for about a week now I have been noticing a really horrible vaginal odour and discharge, which I don't normally get. Also, I was on my period the week before last and right at the end o it my boyfriend and I had sex, so there was a little bit of "mess#" down there. Since then, I thought the leaking and slight smell has been due to my period, but it has been over a week now and I have finished my period and I have a coloured discharge.

And last night my boyfriend and I had sex and I noticed the smell again - even though I have been using a special feminine wash down there and am very hygenic in general - and when we finished I felt a leak on the bed and thought it was from my boyfriend. However, when I turned on the light I saw blood stains on the sheet and then felt it down and around my vagina. When I went to the toilet last night and this morning there was blood in the urine like I am on my period again.

I am quite new to the whole unprotected sex thing, and my boyfriend thinks it might be the smell of his cum inside me mixed with my smell. I have washed after having sex with him, is there any more I need to do? I have also done a pregnancy test as I've heard "spotting" in between your periods can be a sign of this, but I am not pregnant. And I've also been checked at the sexual health clinic and am clear.

So I'm really worried what is wrong with me! I'm sorry this is such a long thread but I'm new to this, and am quite concerned.

Hi It sounds like residual (old)blood from your period that is being dislodged by sex.
I suppose you could have some light obstruction that is stopping your period flushing through fully. Maybe because of the timing( going off condoms) you may have picked up a non STD infection from him. Best if you get a swab from your doctor and get a good diagnostic done.
You could try Vitamin E( Natural source) before your period and this would tend to make your period go through more quickly and heavily. Good luck- Remember go to the Doctor.
