    Default Why does it hurt?

I don't know why it hurts me.

Everyone else seems to enjoy sex! I did the first time I had sex with my boyfriend, all the times we had it in the first night. But we didn't have sex for a couple of weeks and I wasn't on BC by that time, so we started using condoms. It hurt A LOT with condoms, like burned, and felt like I was getting ripped, and sometimes it hurt for days later.

Now I'm on the depo injection (BC) and I thought it would be like the first time, but it still hurts. We're going to try lubrication. But it's not just the burning now... I got cramps last night when we had sex, and this morning I still have them. I definitely don't have cysts (got full examination less than a month ago.)

Does this happen to anyone else? I SO want to enjoy being with my sexy boyfriend. And I'm so embarrassed when I have to ask him to stop for a bit, sometimes I just put up with the pain -- but then he wants to have sex again. I feel like a FREAK.

You may have a latex allergy. Try non-latex condoms if you're still using them with the birth control. Adjusting to a new form of birth control can also mess with your chemistry until you get used to it. Make sure you are lubricated, buy lube if need be.

It is possible that without enough lubrication, the lining of your vagina was rubbed too hard when you were having sex. Use store bought lubricant, maybe something like Astroglide.

Or a spermicide allergy. Some condoms are coated in a spermicide. I have that problem but for me it just causes everything to swell and burn for a day. It could be a lubrication problem but I would think it would be better with condoms than it was without. I actually like using condoms because it cuts down on friction by a lot compared to bare skin. You may have to hunt down some spermicide free non latex condoms and see what happens. Most of the major brands have an option but it will be more expensive than a standard latex condom.

Hi I agree with Kira - Im a guy but nonoxynol-9 irritates the out of me. Latex is also a common allergy cause.

Test any product with nonoxynol-9 in it before you use it. Don't use nonoxynol-9 if it makes you itchy or sore!

Nonoxynol-9 also washes away the natural layer that protects your vagina from germs. This can cause yeast and bladder infections.

Did you know that the most common spermicide was originally a floor stripper? That's kind of right up there with using lysol as a douche.
Being latex sensitive I can attest that it will dry you up like a sponge.
Try some of the latex free products and look for a lube that is paraben and perfume free. If your tissues are irritated you could become sensitive to other chemicals that you are exposed to in this state of increased sensitivity.
