I have found that using a desensitizing lube called Analblue works amazing for me. Just a small drop is enough to get me loosened up and relaxed enough to really enjoy anal. Like a few have mentioned, you have to be careful not to get injured using the desensitizing lube, but I found that if I use just a small drop it wears off quickly and by this time I'm relaxed and ready to enjoy. If you do go the route of the desensitizing lube, be careful that you or your partner don't get it in your mouth!
