Thread: Hymen issues

Hi, I'm 26 years old and had sex with a new partner for the first time last night. I have previously only had one other partner and have not had sex for 7 months.
Sex felt very painful, as if it was my first time again, and afterwards the outside of my vagina was stinging a lot. When I had a look, I was bleeding a lot from the stretchy bit of skin just below the the vaginal opening which looked as though it had almost torn completely in the middle but not at the top- I am assuming that this is my hymen which has not been completely broken?
I'm concerned that my hymen is still in tact and this cycle of pain and bleeding will continue until it is completely broken. I frequently use tampons and have had sex many times before with my previous partner but his penis was definitely smaller than my new partner- could this explain the pain?

I always thought that the hymen was not as rugged as would be necessary for your description, but it probably varies by person. In the even that this is not your hymen, or that perhaps there's some kind of resolvable issue with your hymen, you may want to get examined by a doctor.
Maybe someone else can shed a brighter light on the issue than I can
