Default Cyst or STD??

Greetings,
Thank you all for your time and consideration. Here is my question. My lovely wife of 10 years was concerned that she had an STD, she went to the doctor who advised she had a cyst. It eventually got better and she is on an antibiotic. Are Cysts normal on the Labia or is it an STD?

It sounds like herpes simplex 2 or genital herpes, only a doctor would be able to properly diagnose it.

Herpes as far as i know has fluid like a burn ( correct me if I am wrong) it goes away and the virus lays dorment in the spine, stress I think can trigger an outbreak, but generally its not too bad as long as you eat well and reduce your stress.

Good diet, strong ammune system is important to avoid further outbreaks.

My understanding is its contagious whilst there are blisters, and when the virus is shedding.

Herpes simplex 1 on the mouth is worse, also called cold sores.

Dr. said it was not herpes, just a cyst. How common or those and what causes them?

I don't know, I have heard of them, its probably not something most women advertise, so if its not herpes, your laughing, and don't worry.

You can do a happy dance.

Dear Concerned Hubby,

Cysts are possible in that area. Last year I developed a cyst on my inner labia. After a few weeks of generalized pain in that area I made an appointment with my gyno.

Upon her checking the area it was determined that it was a cyst. The cyst was huge in my book, however, the course of treatment was: antibiotics and sitz baths.

After a week the size of the cyst diminished, however, it took almost six months for it to completely go away.

As for STD's your wife can be checked for all STD's with a blood sample and tissue samples (I believe) from her uterus/cervix. If this has already been done and tests were negative then you need to have faith in your wife's doctor and in your wife.

I hope this advice helps! Also you can look for information on Bartholin's Glands/Cysts (I do think that is what it is called)!

Good luck and please have FAITH!

Smile glands

Bartholins glands help to lubricate and are in the labia they can swell and become really sore.It sounds like this has happened to her.Make sure she is wet before having fun or touching her there or use KY Jelly.Hope this helps and the only thing i can think of that it could be.

Take care hope shes ok soon.

Hello concernedhubby-
If the doctor said it was a cyst then it most likely is just that. There are different types of cysts. Yes, a woman can get a cyst in that area. No, it is not normal just as an ear infection is not normal but they do happen. Some go away on their own and some need a doctor to lance it or surgically remove it. If the latter is true don't be alarmed it is a simple same day out patient proceedure that is less evasive than an adult tonsillectomy. A cyst is a single mass. Herpes Simplex II is a group of small bumps, two or more, usually three, in a triangular shape. Forgive me I can't remember if it is suppose to present with white or red tops on the bumps. I hope this helps. Be Blessed!!!
