Thread: Bad cramps after sex

My husband and I had sex a few times last night. The first two, there was no pain. The third.. and last time... was really rough sex, I was on top. He's quite large so sometimes it's a bit sore after or during sex. When we were done that third time, I started getting really bad 'period cramps', but I'm not on my period. I'm expecting it but it hasn't come yet.
The cramps started getting so bad, I went up to the bathroom and just sat there for a moment. After a while, the cramps were followed by extreme nausea and diarrhea. I thought I was going to die with all the pain. I swear, that had to have been what childbirth feels like. I went and laid on my bed for a moment but the nausea and diarrhea weren't allowing me to stay there too long, and I'd have to run back to the bathroom.
I've experienced something like that before but not to that extreme. My husband didn't even know what to do with me. I thought I was gonna need an ambulance! After about half an hour the pain started to subside. Today I feel really weak and it's still a little sore down there.
I've never had cysts before so I'm wondering if that's what it could be.
Anyways, I appreciate all your posts, they've put me a little at ease.

To be honest, any kind of cramp that bad makes my mind jump to muscle spasms.

I have had many procedures done to remove my cyst on my overies and they keep coming back. Now i have to have a histroectomy very soon. I have such bad cramps the next day after sex i cant walk. Sit up straight anything. I am only 24 with one child, i knew something was wrong but from what i have learned over the last few years it is directly caused from my cyst. After i have them removed i feel fine for a few months but as soon as i get another cyst it hurts.

I would see a doctor immediately.

I'm 32 and I have been experiencing the same extreme pain, that is after an orgasm, but not triggered by a penetration intercourse. It last for approx. 20 minutes, but it hurts like , I'm sweating, and sometimes it gives me nausea. The only thing that gives me some kind of relieve is doing a number 2, sorry for the details. So, I don't know if it's linked or something, but it usually works. It does happen during my ovulation period, and fortunately not every month, and after the 20 minutes or so, I rest a little and it's like nothing happenned... the pain goes away completely. I went to see one doc that told me I had an ovarian cyst (she felt it during my exam), but I went to see another that didn't felt anything. My twin sister has the same problem, she went for a scan and they found nothing, even though her doctor had felt a cyst during a palpation exam. I'm relieve to see other women have the same problems, I will try to do more physical activities like some suggested, I'm not really active...

Okay so I`ve been with the same guy for almost two years now, and last night while we were having sex the same thing happened. I`m 95% certain I do not have any cysts, as this has NEVER been painful to me before. Personally I think he just hit my cervix (maybe that also happened with some of you ladies?) Anyways yeah well we were in the missionary position, and he kindof sat back, and lifted my butt to him, and that`s when it really hurt. I was in pain all night long, it felt like cramps and sometimes got worse, but unlike most of you it didn`t make me feel sick at all. I tried to get up at one point to go pee, and couldn`t even walk properly!! Still now I`m in some deal of pain, and fortunately it`s not half as bad as last night..

I also have had really painful cramps after sex. I had 2 doctors tell me it was all in my head. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis by my OBGYN. I had surgery and sex is back to the way it was if not better. Have yourself checked for it. Good luck and the pain doesn't last forever.

i get these cramps too i m 20 i dont have any kids and im on the patch im very afraid to go to the gyno . im a very shy person with things like that . My cramps dont last very long 10 minutes or so . it is uncomfortable when we do it doggy style . and then after i get the cramps . . Please help me soem one

It first happened to me as a teen after rough man in the back intercourse. I got so crampy all I could do was lie in a fetal position until it subsided. The next time it occured, I was in my early twenties, same position and it didn't bother me until we were finished. I cramped up immediately upon his withdraw, assumed the fetal position....after a few minutes I knew something was coming out of somewhere...sure enough I threw up...and felt better. I've had sex in that position many, many times with no side effects (but with larger penises). No problems.
I've been with my significant other now for 3 years, periodically we assume that position and I've found that if I'm not completely aroused I can pretty much ensure an episode unless we stay missionary. I have been on the bc patch for about 7 years and have had different partners before him, again, no issues. Within the past 3 years I've noticed that the cramping forces my body to expel everything...I have to face the toilet then sit on it...before they subside, usually a 15-20 minute process. Then it's as if nothing happened. Also, if I feel the cramps starting and we switch positions and slow things down, I can avoid the aftermath.
I do have a tilted uterus, my gyne advised to simply use common sense and just be careful in that position. No cysts, no tumors, no bad periods or menstral cramps.
From my own experience, I just need stimulation before we get to the pounding so that my uterus is receptive. Anyone else have any more experiences or theories?

I can't tell you how relieved I am to hear that others have gone through what I've been through. I have been dealing with uterine cramping after intercourse for almost 3 years. It doesn't happen every time, but when it does happen, it's INTENSE! My husband and I had sex this morning, and afterwards I was curled up in pain from uterine cramping. I was very close to calling 911, bc the pain was so intense I thought I was dying. I have 2 kids, so I'm no wimp! haha!
But my husband thinks I am just dramatic, and he still doesn't believe it hurts as bad as it does. I usually take some pain meds and feel better in about 45 minutes, but I have no idea why I hurt so badly. I have had horrible periods since high school, but I've been checked for endometriosis and the dr found nothing. I know my body, and I can tell something is wrong, but no one can tell me what it is. It just makes me feel like I'm crazy, and I think people think I'm crazy....like I'm making it up. To hear that other women have gone through this, makes me feel validated. I hope that everyone stands firm and doesn't give up until we get answers!!
