You can talk with your doctor. Antidepressants are known for killing your sex drive. Perhaps a change in dosage or med is needed.

Ask if you can try switching to Wellbruten or WellbrutenXL. It has no sexual side effects. *Some people say it makes the MORE interested in sex but?? I'm not sure about that.

Anyway its worth asking. Prozac is rather infamous for ruining sex...

Possibly low hormone levels as well. You say you want it more around the time of your period...when the hormones are at the highest levels. Low levels and add antidepressants... could play alot on your desire. Talk with your MD. S/he may be able to adjust your medication or do hormone level testing and go from there.

Darn! I wished I had said that. Speaking from experience hormones really do make your sex drive fire (or not) I suggest Bio Identicals. Speaking of which I was rereading Summer's book. 99% of it is excellent.

Sorry to hear you're having this problem MOMMYlisa3. Being a guy and having a constantly "on" libido, I can't help much, but I can offer a little support here.

The most powerful sexual organ you have is your brain. What I'm hearing from you is:
1) You seem to have lost your libido.
2) You want it back.

Personally, I think you've already conquered 75% of the battle right there. You can get your mojo back if you really want to. I do agree with the others here that say you may need to get a good doctor checkout to analyze your meds (maybe you no longer need them), and to check your hormone levels.

Once you're beyond any medicinal challenges or hormone challenges, then work your brain. Start thinking "sexual"...imagine a scenario that excites you, and then let your mind run wild with it. Don't hold back thoughts that come to you even if they're not "conventional". Just go with it and see where it leads you. Once you start feeling some of those familiar sensations again you're well on your way to being "cured".

Also, don't fret over this. It happens to everyone at some time or another. There's nothing wrong with you. You're normal. It just happens sometimes. It's like the Bissell commercial says. Life's messy...clean it up. Well, life's busy, if you have a problem you're perfectly normal for having it. The battle is in realizing that you have a problem. Once you realize it, then you can fix it.

Good luck!

Hi ML:

Be aware that doctors don't all think HRT is a good thing. I've battled some serious issues with the change and I've decided that one size fits all does not work with HRT. That synthetic hormones are not as good as "human" identical aka BioIdentical hormones.

Many doctors will listen if you express concerns over the type of HRT *All assuming you need any. And also be sure they adjust the dose to fit you and not just give that one dose fits all stuff.
