Hello, I'm new to the forum! I've been searching for something that will keep me active during the winter. I love to walk my dog, but as things get colder the streets ice up and in past years I have slipped. Since my dog is now 8 months old, she's big enough to pull me along and I'm really concerned that I won't have any grip on the sidewalk.

    Thank you,
    Katrina

Do a google search for 'yak trax'. They work perfectly.

Im lucky because my job is physical, come rain or shine i have to lug buckets around, run around the field trying to catch a 3 year old horse that thinks it amusing to not be caught...

But, i still workout... in the summer i run and cycle... in the winter, i workout in my house...invest in a salsa dvd, put up a chin up bar. I stay motivated by designing a chart, mondays i do salsa and 100 sit ups, tuesdays i'll swim, wednesdays i'll do 50 sit ups, 20 press ups, thursdays pilates... etc.. and i have cute little smiley faces to stick next to the days when i finish working out... if i complete a week without slacking, i reward myself - bottle of wine, chocolate etc.... Strange, but it works.. if on the rare occassion i dont stick to the rota, i dont get my reward...

Obviously, design the chart to suit you... and begin small, 5 sit ups monday, half of your dvd tuesday etc... remember to stretch afterwards.. and always reward yourself.

    Good luck, winter sucks!
