I would highly recommend to anyone here trying to stay in shape,or get in shape to try a grain called Quinoa. Pronounced "Keen-wa", it is known as the Mother of Grains. 1/4 of a cup uncooked has 180 calories, 260 mg of potassium, 11g dietary fiber, and 7 grams of protein!!! Only 10 mg of sodium and 2 grams of sugars.

I buy the Eden Organic Whole Grain Quinoa. It is very easy to make (boil) and I add sauted vegetables such as cauliflower, carrots, and snow peas. There are SO many different ways you can use quinoa as it's also good for breakfast if you add a little honey and butter.

Excellent AND healthy. I hope some of you try it!

I didn't know that! It's an excellent way to add some protein to your diet if you're not a big meat eater like myself. I've also tried boiling it in chicken broth...some people prefer that but I believe the added taste isn't worth the extra sodium. It's a neat little grain that I wish I had known about years ago!
