I was just curious to see how you all managed to lose your weight? I have the exercise dedication that i need but I need to be guided towards a a more nutritious eating style. Has anyone heard about South beach Living Food? they seem like they can be perfect snacks for people like me who are always in a hurry and don't always have time to make the most nutritious meal. Their meal bars would be perfect when i need to replace a missed meal. Plus they hace tons of snacks that i could have during the day too! has anyone tried any of these or other South Beach Living foods?

Just stick to healthy snacks and stay away from the fad diet stuff.

    combine good carbs and protein
    Here's a few ideas:
One apple and a piece of sting cheese

Whole wheat toast with peanut butter

Fat free yogurt and a banana

An orange and a glass of skim milk

    etc....

Hummus is a delicious snack and protein. It's good with carrots or pita bread, but the pita bread can be big on calories, so you have to watch out for that.

If you buy the one-piece apple slicers, there are few snacks that could be faster than apple slices.

Peanut butter, since it's got lots of protein, would probably make you feel full too. I know lots of people like to eat it with celery, but I don't personally.

I keep sliced carrots in my fridge constantly. They keep for a week or more already peeled and sliced like that, so they're great. You don't need to buy some company's snacks. Learn to portion for yourself. Apples, pears, peaches, etc are already snack-sized, so why not just pick up a few? You could probably get twice as much food buying fresh fruits (and more nutrition!) than you would buying prepackaged snacks filled with artificial ingredients and chemicals to keep them from going bad.

For packaging fresh fruit that you slice ahead of time like apples, pick up a container of 'Fruit Fresh' or some powdered VitC. Disolve a 1/4 teaspoon or so in water and add to the fruit - it will help it keep from browning and give you a little extra C.

Raw nuts are good, the walnuts, pecans, almonds. I buy the big bags from Costco and store them in the freezer - no salt and good for you.

Dry cereal can be a good snack too - some non sugary kind.

thanks for all the tips! i guess the reason why i like the south beach living foods so much is the fact that they are high in protein, fiber and whole grains. plus, they really fill me up and do the trick!

i personally like brown cow yogurt. its really good and it doesn't have that high corn fructose syrup in it. also, apples i have to agree with, i like to pair it with shaved gouda cheese. you can usually go to whole foods for 4 oz slice of cheese and its not that much.

learning to portion control yourself IS key as well. what i do is i cut half of the apple and shave the cheese (with a peeler) . then by the time im done with the snack im pretty full. (plus, getting up and getting more when you're comfy watching a movie isn't that appealing...lol)

A few of my favorite healthy snacks include green apples, some fruit and low fat cottage cheese, homemade low-calorie muffins, etc.

One of my favorite snacks is eating some of those flavored cans of tuna (the sweet thai chili one is really good), and putting it over top of some salad. Not only do you get some protein, but it fills you up!

An apple with natural peanut butter is definately by favorite, but I have to watch myself, since peanut butter is high in calories. But it has tons of great protein!
