It's obvious you are almost at your wits end, as this post does pose a question but is simular to your other post, I don't think you need to post any more threads, rather wait until people in your situation can answer you.

But, it is my understanding that we grow out of acne to a large degree, just because you are out of your teens doesn't mean that your body is ready to change directions to a vast degree.

You say sugar (not drinking it) has helped somewhat, don't eat chocolate or sweets either and start drinking alot more water than perhaps you do.

Clean your skin with only water and natural soaps, not chemicals, or even for a while just a facewasher with warm water only, to see whether you are actually breaking out due to forms of chemicals, that your body doesn't like.

In addition breathe in and out... Stop stressing... Stress causes pimples....

I was in your situation and when I was traveling a super nice Indian woman told me about a home remedy. She told me to use egg yolk! It worked amazingly fast and I maintained it. Plus it is inexpensive.

I put it on my clean face and let it dry. Then got in the shower and moistened it and just kinda rinsed it off. I did this everyday until it started to clear up then went down to every other day. You just taper off to where it becomes manageable.

My daughter started to use emu oil when she started to break out. That worked too. Worked so good I am carrying it in my store.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Red face

I had the same trouble with my two kids and spent oodles of money on everything under the sun to treat acne. Finally I made an appointment with the dermatologist at a total cost of $130. I had spent over that in OTC medicines and I can tell you it was worth every penny. She gave my daughter a face wash and cream also pills which later she found she really didn't need to take since the face wash and cream cleared everything up with the first two weeks. And let me tell you her skin was very oily and pimply. Good Luck

Okay, what helped me was a tad costly... but it REALLY worked. I took a medicine called Acutane. It was a pain in the because of what a life change it was for me.

-You have to eat healthier, because this medicine makes your cholesterol and triglicerate levels shoot up
-You have to get your blood checked every month, and you have to take a pregnancy test every month

That's where it gets annoying. Since the medicine has such negative effects on fetuses, you must have two forms of birth control (I.e pill & something like Mirena). If you are not sexually active, you just need any old birth control pill... as a kind of insurance.

You have to wait a month before you take it, and when you are done, you have to wait a month before trying to get pregnant, donate blood, etc.

Plus, you can't wax, use nair, be in the sun for too long, or anything that may harm your skin. It's a real hassle but, IT IS WORTH EVERYTHING. It cleared my face up so well. I really recommend it.

WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT USE PRO ACTIV! IT RUINED MY FACE!

    Parkersmom,
Could you tell me more about the egg yolk and emu oil? I have never heard of either one. and if it works as well as you say I'd love to try it. So do I literally crack open an egg and rub it on my face? and where can I get emu oil? Health food store? Thanks so much!

I am a proactiv success story. I have horrid skin, like makes cameron diaz look good. and then I went on proactiv and it worked miracles!!! I actually thought at one point my skin was getting better so I stopped using it. O lord was that a mistake my skin went to heck again. So I went back on it and never looked back! I have pics of me on my profile and you can't tell I actually have problem skin.
Remember it doesn't work for everyone this was just my expirence with it
    I wish you luck.

Sadly, one of the only things that has ever worked for me is tanning (which I know is horrible for your skin!) I've tried every kind of birth control pill (which is supposed to clear your face), ortho-tri cycline, tetracycline, minocyline, doxycycline, benzoyl peroxide face washes, differin gel, tazorac, and accutane (these are just the prescription ones.... not even counting the NUMEROUS over the counter meds ive taken, such as pro-active).

Accutane actually didnt do ANYTHING for me. It was a pain in the butt, and cost me over $1,000 per month. They had me on 100 or 120 mg.. i cant remember. when another doc said i should never have gone over like... 40 or 60. I also took it for nearly a year when i should have only been on it for 6mo. I saw no changes... i wasnt sensitive to sunlight... zip. nada. nothing. however... it did work for my brothers. my skin must just be stubborn.... haha

I've also done laser treatments... again, I saw no change.

All in all, ive easily spent 20,000 on my skin, if not more.

My skin isnt horrible, but i have hundreds of tiny tiny bumps all over it. you really cant see them unless youre 'right up in there', but it still bothers me. i also do get normal zits here and there as well.

Anyhow... I was considering getting a light chemical peel, but again am afraid it might be a poor investment. I'm hoping my skin will just figure itself out one of these days haha. Until then, i've just been hitting the booth whenever my skin starts to freak out. (dont worry - im not baking very often! lol).

if anyone does know what these little bumps might be, let me know! (they pop just like little zits would). my boyfriends sister is an esthetician and even she is stumped on how to treat them. bah!

I was in the same boat as you for most of my teens. I am almost 20 and finally found a break from the on going struggle.

Obviously this is just what works for me, everyone is different and I hope that sharing this will help you in any small or big way possible.

I know what you are going through and it is no fun!

So first of all WATER is key! I mean lost of water. I have a 32oz water bottle that I refill and drink 4 times a day. So I am drinking a little over a gallon. I don't drink soda or sugary beverages. Green and black teas are great though. I don't drink coffee either, although I'm not sure if that effects skin much.

Diet is super important too. Carrots are super great for skin! They have vitamin A which is good for your skin. Foods high antioxidants are amazing because they fight free radicals which are very harmful. Blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and plums-all very yummy too! And salmon is another great skin clearing thing to eat.

So aside from all that, I have tried proactiv, and skin ID- I was not happy nor did I get the results I wanted. That is not to say that won't work for you- we are all different. I have been to the dermatologist and I was prescribed Benzaclin-which is expensive but did work. I ran out of the bottle and I did not want to refill at the cost I was paying. So I started using Nuetrogena face wash 2 times a day, Clearasil face pads 2 times a day and then on the spot ance treatment at night.
I think the combination of all 3 products which contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid is what works for my skin. I have heard good things about Cetaphil I'm not sure if you have tried that already-Anyways sorry this was so long-and I hope this offers some hope or help to you.

Also check out some of these DIY skin care videos-I have tired most of them and really saw good results. Goodluck!
