    Default Long Hair

Everytime I try to grow my hair out really long, it ends up getting extremely dry and damaged at the ends by the time I get it to the length I want. I use good shampoo and conditioner that's supposed to moisturize, but I still seem to have problems with split-ends. Suggestions? New conditioner maybe?

I used to have hair long enough to sit on, or slam in my truck door (LOL). Two things that I found helpfull were hot oil treatment, where you work a plant based oil into your hair and then put it in a bun and warm it either in the sun or with a low heat blow dryer. Another is egg yolk and lemon. mix a couple of egg yolk with the juice of a lemon or two, then massage this into your scalp and hair. The lemon cuts any oil or chemicals that coat your hair and the yolk moisturizes. Do this sitting in the tub- it can be messy. Rinse with cool water or you will cook the yolk and have a job getting it out of your hair. With salmonella concerns these days have a nice soapy show after.
This will leave your hair really soft and shiny.

My hair is to my waist and has been for years. I used to get pretty bad split ends but I stopped washing it so much and that really helped. I wash it 2-3 times a week tops and I condition it almost everyday. But remember to just put conditioner on the ends, your scalp produces the necessary oils to keep your hair healthy but we just wash it out before it gets time to work it's way down the hair. If your hair is long the oil doesn't get a chance to get to the ends by the time you wash it off. So wash a couple times a week and condition the ends a lot and see how that works for you.

I have lovely long hair (its almost to my butt now)...what I do is basic, and easy. I get a trim every....month and a half.
IF I have to use product, I do not use something harsh, I go for something with plant extracts...
when it is wet, DO NOT brush it, pick it out...that causes LESS damage.
Use a boar bristle brush, a BIG one!
ONLY blowdry when your hair is about...70% dry

and finally....avoid tight hair elastics...they cause damage.

    I hope this helped?

I never blow dry my hair if it can be avoided. I also never use shampoo on the ends, I simply wash the roots and let the soap run down the length of my hair. I also condition only from about halfway to the ends (otherwise my scalp looks greasy) As a someone has already said, washing it less often also really helps. I try to rinse with cold water as well which helps give your hair a natural shine.

Thanks for all of this. I usually wait to dry my hair until it's mostly dry and I'm going to start trying to only condition the ends and wash only my scalp. Lol. Why can't there just be a way to make my hair grow quickly and undamaged overnight?

I use pantene and it's been great for my hair. right now I'm using the moister renewal conditioner and the beautiful lengths shampoo of theirs. (I think it's called that anyways) But then again not much works on my hair since I colour my hair a fair bit haha.

I used to have hair to my waists and never even had a problem with dryness or anything, and I've used the cheap 99 cent shampoo all my life, lol. I think the key is not to wash it too frequently, especially in winter. In the summer I would wash it a little more, but generally, you don't want to wash it until you can feel it getting a tiny bit greasy. Your natural oils work wonders for your hair, I think
