    Default Pregnant and in medication

HI. I just recently tested positive of being 5 weeks pregnant. My husband and I are very excited of our first baby. My dilemma is this, though. I am a migraine sufferer and have been on medication (paracetamol and fiorciet) to manage the pain. I get very severe headaches and so I don't think I can go through a day with a migraine headache without taking my meds. My question is, do you know if the meds I take contain anything that could harm our baby?

I think this is a question you need to speak to your Doctor about, congratualtions about your pregnancy thought that's fantastic.

Your Doctor may say, 1 here and there if it is bad is ok but more is not for instance, or he may suggest a heat bag on your head, resting in a dark room instead, who knows... But please speak to someone of Authority in this regard and best wishes.

Good advice from Chandlers wish; I would definately speak to your doctor about this matter! Congratulations about the pregnancy though! Is it your first baby? Good luck with it all hun! i'm 32 weeks pregnant myself so have been checking out blogs by other pregnant mummys to prepare myself; theres loads of great ones. He's my first baby - im hoping reading other peoples experiences will make everything ok, lol, probably not but its helping so far! I hope it helps you too and hope the headaches dont cause you too many problems, take it easy! xxx

Any questions you have concerning medications during your pregnancy should be taken to the attention of your OB. I quit mine without consulting my dr. I don't know what meds are safe for chronic migraines during pregnancy.

I suffer from migraines occassionally. Prior to my first pregnancy I had them quite often and after discovering I was pregnant I was told to quit taking my medication (Imitrex). Luckily I didn't have any migraines during my pregnancy. I don't know how that worked! I had the occassional headache which I treated with tylenol (extra strength is okay if it's a bad headache, just don't take it everyday) and rest in a dark room.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck with your migraines!
