I know, I am weird. I have my own world, well, you do, too. And we kind of have a sub-culture going on. It is not bad to admit our preference. Introverts can actually shine and use this to be stronger.

If you are one of US, come on out!

Yeah your weird.. (Only joking)... We do have our own world but more importantly we are our "own person" that is the way I prefer to look at the bigger picture.

Our own sub-culture? mmm.. Have to sleep on that one... It's not bad to admit any preference, dream, goal, anything if you are "YOUR OWN PERSON" ....

I am strong, I am woman, I roar, what does that make me then? haha.

It's good to vent, good for you.

I have been told by other people I am a introvert like it is a bad thing. I am just independent and like to think alot. I dont feel I need to conform to a group. I like who I am. People that know me wouldnt say I am introverted. People that do say that do so because they dont take the time to know me. If they dont talk to me, how would they know what kind of person I am.

I'm an introvert, completely. Even though I have a fairly large circle of friends, around people I don't know, I am a complete turtle, hiding in my shell.

I was picked on a lot in middle school all through high school, and when I was little I wasn't around people a lot, so I guess I'm socially awkward.

Tell me if you did ROAR this weekend, Mum? hahaha...(refering to the other thread - I am thrilled about that)

That makes you a weird sociable introvert if you I may put it. *silly grin

I have trained myself to open up to people and to unfamiliar places. I used to feel alienated and just choose a spot to stay unnoticed. I still have these episodes though.

we can use our introvert powers to our advantage. Since we think a lot and more deeply than the extroverts, our opinions are valued. People recognize the fact that we don't talk too much, yet, if we do, we are worth listening to.

Well, not all introverts are withdrawn like most people would stereotype people like us. In time, introverts developed the skill to be able to mingle with people and open up their horizon. May it be due to conscious personal improvement regimen being done by the individual, or just was not given an option (i.e. work-related - business functions, etc.). Yet, even though we can be very outspoken and warm with people, there is this innet self that shouts for solitude, for the quiet, for the personal space - the place where no one is allowed to. And I found myself doing that since I was a kid. I didn't know what it was before.

I was raised a "stage' child - I was always asked to sing or dance in programs or just simple ocassions/family gatherings. So I was really out there. But amidst the "popularity", I still have this "inner world" that is special for me. I was able to let one in though - my BF. We're both introverts.

Personally the only reason I choose to interact with people is if I am forced to. Things like class presentations, interviews, or business stuff I will do but only because I have to, not because I want to. If I am with a group of people I will not want to engage in random conversation, even though I know I should. The reason I choose not to is because I rarely have an interest in what people talk about. If someone asks me a question sure I will talk to them but I try to give the the answers I believe they want to hear so that the conversation ends. Maybe I am an isolated case but as an introvert I would choose solitude over having to talk to someone about knitted sweaters, pictures by a three year old or how to make a loaf of bread.

    Present!

It's actually fun being an introvert. It allows me to take a step back and then to observe and analyze in such a way that I might not be able to if I were always in the middle of the action. I can entertain myself pretty easily and I don't mind solitude.

Hmm, solitude might actually be a 'fuel' for me in some way. It allows me to recharge and reorganize. I tend to get grumpy if I have to go for long periods with other people constantly around me. I need that little bit of space free of outside distractions.

Some think it weird of course. I've never been one to go to bars and clubs, and parties haven't ever ranked high on my list of priorities. It's not that I'm scared to interact with people.. I don't have problems talking to others.. but I've just never found those kinds of activities very satisfying.

Completely off topic, but WC - if you haven't already - I would love to see a list of books recommended by you and why you think we would benefit from reading them! You seem to have the holy grail of book-knowledge and how they can help us with our daily lives.. a compilation of some (or ALL ) of your favorites could help us (ie ME) in creating my TO READ list!!!
