Welcome to the club, Isabellacat! I surely will try Rumiko Takahashi's works. I need to save some more "donuts" to buy a dvd though. LOL!

    I guess I'm a geek..but who cares!

I have watched Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, and Castle in the Sky. It seems that Miyazaki has a thing for little girls, strong women (which is an opposite to the asian theme of submission), and well, flying machines, i.e., gliders, odd-looking aircrafts, baloons, dragons, or just having the characters' ability of flying. Something is liberating in those flying scenes.

I have ordered more of his works: Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind...I added Grave of the Fireflies (Isao Takahata).

It's good to be a geek! You're gonna love Kiki's Delivery Service and Nausicaa.....Kiki's my fave...... I must say Graveyard of Fireflies is a tearjerker. It's based on a true story.

not only in Miyazaki but I find in alot of anime there's alot of strong female characters. Another anime I love is Bubblegum Crisis. It's a story about a group of 4 women who are vigilantes...they wear these robotic suits and fight against a corporation who is evil. It's pretty interesting. Great soundtrack too.

i will watch Kiki's Delivery Service with my girlfriend tonight. I will "force" her to - lol! I have Nausicaa as a reserve should she ask for more.

I learned from a friend that Ponyo...is showing soon. Can't wait to see it, and have a copy of it.

    Default PONYO loves Soske!

Back here....PONYO! I have seen the movie, and it is a little bit different from the other Miyazaki films. It was okay, I liked it, but I would say, it's not my favorite. It has side "rebellious" being rewarded...and parents had to scale down and deal with the whims of a headstrong child - more of the real world issues...

Generally, I like the film. I would love to watch it again and get a copy of it. It has a wonderful message on responsibility and love. It's just not my favorite Miyazaki opus....(Am I confusing you now?) lol.

    "I know it's a great responsibility, but I love her." - Soske
